It's better if you don't know it's a vampire movie

When I watched I thought it was a pulp fiction type movie. I didn't know it had anything to do with vampires so when that happened it blew my mind. If I had known it would have taken away so much. Is there anybody else like me who didn't know it was a vampire movie when you watched it?

So hard to watch it now without knowing. Even the IMDB description tells you right away that it is a vampire movie. My title is a spoiler in itself but I don't feel guilty about it because it is already given away everywhere else.

Actually, I'm with you, yeah. It was showing on one of the movie channels, really late one night, I couldn't sleep so thought, sure, why not? I was already a fan of both Tarantino and Rodriguez by this point, so that was a major selling point once I'd checked out the information on the film. Like you, I was expecting something more along the lines of Pulp Fiction, or maybe even Sin City (kind of - obviously, both are kind of a far stretch in retrospect).

So, yeah, by the climax of the film, I was completely caught off guard. Part of the way through, I was thinking 'but wasn't their goal to get to Mexico? But, they're in Mexico, so, now what happens? Did I start watching this halfway through?' It was fantastic seeing this film for the first time. Luckily, the information the channel gave on it was pretty vague, so it was completely out of left field.

Yeah I'd still like it if I had known but I love it because I didn't

it is virtually impossible not to know, even the box cover shows you it is weird with the face of salma and the red eyes.

but yeah i agree it is better when you dont know

I knew that it was a vampire movie going in. My issue was that the story was good, the action was good, and the tempo was good. By the time the vampires had shown I completely forgot it was a vampire movie. It turned into a huge let down.

Why? You didn't think the story, action and tempo were good?🐭

I had no idea. Well, almost no idea.

I've been on and off with tarantino since like, 2002 or 2003, seeing Pulp Fiction for the first time as a young teenager. The only Rodriguez film I'd seen was Planet Terror in early 2010 I think.

I watched this for the first time last night. I'd been meaning to see it for some time but I never had a great interest in it. I was internetting around yesterday and read something about "vampface" in the movie and I was intrigued so I decided to watch it. However, I got so caught up in the first part of the movie that I'd completely forgotten about that aspect.

If I'd known beforehand I think it may have been better... I usually don't regard things in terms of cups of tea but the second part of this is really not mine. That kind of thing can be mildy amusing for me and I don't mind it in small doses. It took all the momentum built up in the first hour, threw it out the window, and went in a completely different direction, never to return. It should have been built up better before, or come in later or maybe been shorter itself? like it just turns into a bunch of wacky stuff happening for the last 40~ minutes, there's no balance.

obviously i can see why people would love it but it ain't my thing

i saw it on television randomly about 15 years ago
i had no idea what the story was about so the vampires did surprise me quite a bit
also i was like 10 years old so i did find the vamps a bit scary at the time

I didn't know it was a vampire movie.
I just watched it...I just saw True Romance and Jackie Brown,
so then I figured I should see FDTD.

It was an compelling movie...until people started becoming vampires,
then it was just silly.
I lost interest, but I still finished it.

It was too jarring, not knowing it was a vampire movie.
Again, it was a good movie until it was just nonstop vampire killing.
Then it wasn't interesting anymore...
it was just Quentin having fun with special effects, but there wasn't any
story for what, 20 or 30 minutes.

Fortunately for me I hadn't read the brief synopsis of the film so I had no idea this was a vampire movie. I'm sitting there watching it wondering where things were going to go then all of a sudden, boom, vampires everywhere. It was a real WTF moment.

It was late one night and I couldn't sleep. Around 4 in the morning and I started watching because Clooney. It was good, I heard of the movie before and I knew that it had something to do with Tarantino. (Probably wouldn't have watched it had I known it was directed by robert rodriguez) Anyway stuck around because it was intense. Then whoosh I'm like what's going on? Vampires start eating people and salma hayek is a vampire. I'm not too good with gore, or horror but I'll tell you I was a little on edge. The twist was good, the execution was of it was nice. I enjoyed because I hadn't known it was a vampire movie. If I did I would've been letdown. So yea, it was better not knowing.
