Best Austen guy?

Who do you prefer of all of the men in Jane Austen's books?

My top 5 would have to be:

1. Mr. Darcy - Pride and Prejudice
2. Mr. Knightly - Emma
3. Colonel Brandon - Sense and Sensibility
4. Edward Ferrars - Sense and Sensibility
5. Mr. Bingley - Pride and Prejudice

i would have to agree with darcy and knightly at the top of the list. i do love colonel brandon as well!

reply

Mr. Darcy, hands down!!! That's probably because i'm such a pride and prejudice freak though. But I still really like Mr. Knightley and Colonel Brandon; they're my second favorites.

I am happier even than Jane; she only smiles, I laugh.

Darcy, no question. Knightley is a very close runner up though. But you can't beat,

If a mere male may give an opinion, after seeing the last version of Pride and Prejudice I thought Mr Bingley quite a charming young man, much better company than the dour Mr Darcy.
