Toy Story 3- the best out of the 3?

Hey guys,
I just wanted to see if everyone unanimously thought TS3 was the best.

To me it was very close between TS3 and TS1. Don't get me wrong. All 3 were amazing cinematic achievements that will be treasured by kids for years on end.

Toy Story 2 was probably the weakest out of the 3 for me, but in no shape or form bad. It had the peril(to a lesser extent than 3), the adventure, the thoughts and contemplation of the future( A toy's fate), and of course the characters. The only thing it seemed to lack was the emotion like the first and the third one had. Probably the most touching scene was the flashback with Emily and Jessie. Overall, the characters still grew and developed as well as the story.

To me, the essence of Toy Story was always TS 1. The bond between Woody and Buzz is hands down explored the most in this one as well as the thought of being replaced. Great story, introduced all of the great characters with thier own personalities, amazing music, and adventure(peril). I think this one had the most chracter developement out of the 3; particularly with Buzz and Woody towards the end. It was ground breaking for its time, not only for the technical acheivements, but for such a unique concept that was so unique that would have been awesome even if done by traditional Disney animation (non-cg).

Toy Story 3- I don't think I have to go into much detail on this board of why this one so great becasue everyone on here has done that already. The most heartfelt and emotional of the 3, the most clever and complex story of the 3, characters are put into struggle (most perilous of the 3) and you actually feel and care what happens to each of them. 1. Incinerator scene- enough said and 2. the end was probably one of the best conclusions in the history of trilogies.

Its still hard for me to say which one is the best, but when I think toy story, I always think TS 1. TS 3 is definitely up there, but I guess we will see how it fares the test of time because TS 1 passes it with flying colors.

Just interested to see how people feel on this...

Toy Story 3 was the best in my opinion. I saw it in the cinema 5 times, 4 in the first week, and it got better every time. I think for me #2 comes in next, followed by #1. I have to say that I am a 19-year-old student who has grown up with these films and Andy (#1 was the first film I ever saw in the cinema - what an introduction, consequently film is one of my subjects at university), so I have a strong emotional connection to him and his toys.
At 19 I spent nearly £100 on Buzz and Woody figures, and was so unashamed I put it as my facebook status and I was supported and congratulated. That's how cool these films are, even for teenagers.

I was amazed how they made such a perfect ending, and did not let fans of the other two perfect movies down. It was also so original and emotional, if two scenes towards the end did not pull the heartstrings it's probably safe to say you should see a doctor to check you still have one!

And of course the fact that it was a fantastic threequel, something I have not experienced before (and probably never will again), especially as it exceeded even its superb prequels.

According to Total Film it is the highest grossing animated movie ever, I say WELL DESERVED YOU PIXAR GUYS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! And release it in the UK, once I own that blu-ray I can die happy. Thanks :D

I agree. The closest trilogy that comes close to this is the original star wars trilogy (Return of the jedi was kind of a low point).

The new batman trilogy has potential to be a near perfect trilogy as well. We will see how the third one goes.

I think thats what separates the toy story trilogy from the others, because usually they peak at the second movie and the third one is the least favorite of the bunch. In toy story, the third was the highest point- a rarity in cinema.

Are you kidding? Those movies were overly long messes. The only reason everyone loved it so much is that the critics all told us we were supposed to like it after Heath Ledger overdosed on Ambien.

Are YOU kidding? I saw the movies before even having internet connection at home and reading all those reviews and I loved them. The third one is going to be a masterpiece like the Dark Knight.

Anyway, I liked the first Toy Story most, then the third and finally the second.

The Lord of the Rings is the other perfect trilogy, then Godfather, maybe Bourne, Star Wars comes only after that. If the Batman film will be at least as good as TDK, then that trilogy will be the best.
Toy Story 1-2-3 are my favourite animated movies (+almost all Pixar and Zemeckis animations). I think the third is the best.

Sounds like someone missed Lord of the Rings.

I'd rank them:

TS2 - love the Emily/Jesse montage, makes me cry every time.
TS1
TS3

I should probably watch all three toy stories to give my final answer, but at the moment I'd say that the third was the best to me. Maybe it was just because I didn't think it could be as good as the first one.

Speaking of good trilogies, I have to say that I consider Back to the future to be one of the top five. I see the ratings for the sequels are lower than for the first one, but I found them all equally entertaining.

I still like Toy Story 1 the most. It's just a heavenly nostalgia bomb. Toy Story 3's in a very close second, though. 2's my least favorite of the trilogy, but that doesn't mean I dislike it. Not at all. In fact, I love it. I love all three, the Toy Storys are my favorite Pixar films.

Toy Story 1 is always the best, because it introduces us to this great journey through out the whole trilogy. When I was little I watched the first one with joy, so when I saw Toy Story 3 as a college student it brought tears to my eyes as the memory of the first one just kept flowing back to me.

No, I still find the first the best, the third was my least favorite. All 3 are masterpieces and some of my favorite, if not favorite films ever! :D

reply

Definitely. My mum also thought it was the best although a friend of mine likes TS2 the best.

3 was a major disappointment.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I am planning to soon. Would you care to elaborate on your opinion?

WHY were you so disappointed? What were you expecting that it failed to deliver?

For me it's 1, 3 and then 2 But I love all of them.

I liked 2 the best, but the incinerator scene has to be the most powerful bit in the entire trilogy. 3 was very good though I thought a little slow in the middle.

reply

Toy Story 1 is by far, better than Toy Story 3.

I agree with Carolina. Well toy story 3 was the first movie i ever saw from this trio, since i m a big fan of Httyd, i wanted to see what oscar material this movie had, and i'm not ashamed to say that i'm 26 and i cried when i saw that movie, cried so so hard that when my mom saw me crying, she found it hard to believe that it was all for an animated movie, and well, i made my mom see this movie and she loved it, she gave the movie 10 stars =D
This special experience made me check out first two movies, and well, yeah, both were great but toy story one is EXCELLENT. I found it more special then toy story 3 even... and i agree that toy story 2 might be the weakest in this trio, still loved everyone of it...

1. Toy Story
2. Toy Story 3
3. Toy Story 2

Its amazing that the 3rd movie in a franchise is arguably the best of the lot. How often does it happen?
