So... does Juliette Lewis ruin this movie for anyone else?

Just curious. Anyone???

She is the weakest actress in the whole film, for certain. But she's still delivering a Major League performance in an Olympic League cast imho.
But if I can just entice you to try something that might fix that... watch her monologue in the dressing room. ("You know one of the ways movies are still better than playback?...") again, very carefully. Think about what any actress in that scene would have to do with those lines and then notice how well she plays that scene.
I know that an entire scene cannot make a performance, but I'll overlook the fact she's not quite on par with the others for the fact that no matter how many times I watch this movie, that scene always gives me chills and the emotion is potent but never overdone in that one monologue. She even outdoes Fiennes at that moment, which is REALLY saying something!

She ruined most movies that she was in. All the really did for about 5 years was scream, cry and take her clothes off.

I think she was perfect. She looks strange. Her always greasy forehead and weird cheeks fit the character; who happened to be a skanky junkie. Any guy named Lenny that gets beat up a lot and sells illegal things would totally fall in love with someone like that. It happens. Just watch 'Cops'.

So no, she didn't ruin this movie. The trainwreck ending kept this one for being a great film for me. But it was fun enough. Lol

No. But comes close. Fortunately, Angela Bassett saves the day.

I didn't mind. I do agree that Angela Bassett was great in this flick.

I'm glad someone posted this, I was thinking the exact same thing when I watched it. Thankfully like others have said she didn't ruin it for me because it was that good of a film but she came damn close! I really don't see her appeal at all, why anyone would cast her for anything is beyond me. Maybe Hollywood finally wised up and agreed and that's why we don't see her anymore. Thank god!

~What if this is as good as it gets!~

I somewhat feel you, she's terrible, but I've come to expect that from her, she's just terrible, watching this movie now, in my older age, I empathize more with what you say than I did when I was younger. Although, I still cannot condemn this great movie because of her horrid acting. May I also add that she IS by FAR the WORST part of this movie.

Of course. Juliette Lewis ruins any movie she's in, as long as she's (mis)cast as a love interest. That a butt-ugly, uncharming and generally dislikable female like her would be the object of such worship from the lead character is so thoroughly unbelievable that it absolutely ruins what could have been a great film.

It doesn't exactly help that they put her up against a smoking hottie like Angela Bassett.

Well, I hate her anyway, because she is usually just annoying in her movies. But here, she takes a step back and lets Mr. Fiennes be #1. His whining about HER really made me stop watching the movie after around 90 minutes. The rest is good. Angela Bassett is great, Mr. Fiennes is good when he is not whining about Faith, the idea of it all with those recordings straight from the brain is pursued to it's evil depths in a very good way. The dystopian future is maybe a little bit overdone, playing such a short distance in the future, but still interesting.
I wish I could have watched until the end, but I couldn't.
