What was Venus' power?

So after watching the whole series again, what is Venus?
Sailor Moon is Love/Healing
Sailor Mercury is Ice
Sailor Mars is Fire
Sailor Jupiter is Thunder
Sailor Uranus is Wind?
Sailor Neptune is water
Sailor Pluto is Time
Sailor Saturn is Death

SO what is venus? It cant be love because thats Sailor Moon ..

I'm sorry what do you think your doing?

Just a note, Mercury doesn't control just ice but water in general as an element, like how Mars is fire-based and Jupiter is electric/wood-based.
Uranus controls wind/ground with her more ground-based attacks. Neptune controls the sea and her attacks are more deep-sea pressure based.

I feel like Venus may have had a less clear element just because Naoko created her character first. Originally, she was a reincarnation of the Goddess Venus. Otherwise, she IS the soldier of love and beauty, and some of her attacks are metal-based.

Metal/gold yes. Anyways sailor senshi power elements are not that simple to define.

Sailor Moon - Purity/Love

Sailor Mercury - Water (more specifically, the transformation of water into ice)

Sailor Mars - Fire

Sailor Jupiter - Nature (primarily Thunder but also Plants)

Sailor Venus - Love (represented through light and gold)

Sailor Uranus is The Heavens (space, wind, ect)

Sailor Neptune is The Ocean (more specifically, tides, currents, waves, ect)

Sailor Pluto is Time

Sailor Saturn is Death/Rebirth

Sailor Chibi (Mini) Moon - Purity/Dreams

The reason Sailor Venus's powers are so ambiguous and overlapping with Sailor Moon is because of her time as Sailor V. Before taking on the full power of Venus, she drew power from the Moon. A lot of her motifs were moon-based and her attacks fueled by moonlight and love.

Furthermore, both the Moon and Venus represent love but in different ways. While the Moon represent unconditional love and the purity that comes with it, Venus represents romantic love and the beauty of that love. As Sailor Venus's power grows (from Sailor V to Basic to Star to Crystal), we see more distinction from her type of love from Sailor Moon's. Sailor Venus stands for (romantic) Love and Beauty while Sailor Moon stands for (unconditional) Love and Justice (i.e. the safety of all good things).

The two are as similar as Sailor Mercury and Neptune who themselves share an element but differ in their concepts and uses of that element. While Mercury represents the transformations of water (particularly to ice), Neptune represents the power and force of water's greatest body: The Ocean. In a simplistic sense, Mercury represents lakes, rivers, rainfall, fogs and the arctic while Sailor Neptune gets the vast ocean and its fury. While Sailor Mercury's actions are all predictable and seemingly calculated (like how a stream leads into a river or how water will always freeze at a certain temperature), Sailor Neptune's power is unpredictable (like a tsunami or what occurs at the depths of the ocean floor).

I think you made some very good points. I also agree that Venus' elements are love and beauty. There's even a book called "Meet Sailor Venus: Love".

I've read that the creator of show said the reason why Sailor Venus looks alot like Sailor Moon because it was her duty to take Princess Serenity's place to keep her from danger. Maybe that's why some of their powers are quite similar.

I remember reading something similar as well!! Sailor V herself is meant to be a decoy for the true Moon Princess, after all. Who better to impersonate the Moon Princess than another flighty, blonde girl with a crescent moon cat and moonlight-based powers?

I also remember reading a fan theory that Venus and its royal family are meant to be a decoy for the Moon and Earth Kingdom royal families. As the Venus Royal family is the leader of Queen and Princess Serenity's court, it can be assumed that they are in charge of the Silver Millennium's military and/or CIA. Thus, they would devote their lives to doing everything in their power to keep all threats from attacking the Moon Kingdom. What better way to protect the rulers of the Silver Millennium than to pose AS them? Outside threats would only know that the rulers of the Silver Millennium are "blonde, beautiful and living upon a shining celestial body." Naturally, they'd assume this to be Venus, never expecting something as tiny as Earth's moon to house the TRUE rulers. Heck, ff all the moons in our solar system, Earth's moon is only one without a true name!!

This is further proven by the fact that Venus has no moon of it's own. Just a satellite.

Even if outside enemies get tipped off that the they should be looking for a Moon Princess, they would only know to attack A moon, thus striking Magellan Castle rather than Earth's Moon Kingdom. By the time they learn that they attacked the wrong place, the Sailor Soldiers and their generals would be on the way to stop them.
