i think it is a tie between the ol guy on the bike, deformed policeman, and contorted styles.
dont make a post that tells how bad/funny/not scary the movie is.
For me it's towards the end of the film. When Sam Neill's character is in the asylum, and he finds the door to his cell is open, he walks out and while he's looking the other way, something moves across in front of the camera...gets me every time! Classic Carpenter scare tactic!

The whole film was a scary scene
shareI think there is one where she gets out of the car and sam neill sees her and her head and body were all funny looking.
the part where that guy opens the doorway and then you wait a while and all these grotesque monsters come out.
and also those scenes you all were talking about.
Boy on bike, no question. I don't remember anything else as scary.
shareI've shown this movie to a couple of my friends and each one says that the "old" man on the bike is one of the freakiest things they've ever seen. I just watched this again with some friends last weekend and it still works. There was only one guy who was kind of "meh" on the movie and his opinion usually differs from everyone else's when it comes to movies and games.

When Styles runs into the pack of children before going into the Church and asks them who they were.
shareThe scene where Trent tries to get away from the 'zombies' in his car, but can't, was my favorite scene when I was a kid. Also the scene where the monsters come out of the dark while Styles is reading about it, scared the hell out of me.
I watched it last weekend and I must confess the old guy on the bike is the creepiest scene.
But then again, this whole movie is a real nightmare.
Old Man on the bike for sure. I think until then, you were somewhat lulled into a fall sense of "eh they're just driving, nothing could possibly happen".
Of course any horror fan would know that's EXACTLY when something creepy's gonna happen. I have to say, probably the anticipation for the scare gets me pumped more than the scare itself.
