Thank you for your pointless post.

Too bad, it is a great film; one of the best from the entire decade. You are really missing out on a remarkable film.

And this was back when Pacino/De Neiro could actually act (it is a shame what they became later) they didn't maintain that great acting ability like Hopkins and Nicholson managed to keep into their later years.

Agreed. Lots of well knowns giving a great performance, one of, I'd not the best shoot sequence and compelling look at Literally cops v robbers

Oh yes, the bank heist shootout is arguably the best in cinema history; in terms of choregraphy, pacing, editing, sound effects (not realistic sounds but effective), camera use (few quick cuts), realism of the shooting and stances (things like tactical use of cover fire and not every bullet hitting a target you see far too often in other films). In fact I think in terms of how many cops are shot I think it is less than 5 (despite the literal hundreds of rounds fired). But at the same time keeping that realism it is shot in such a way that the intensity is not decreased, in fact the realism adds to the suspense of it.

On top of that the actors demonstrate a significant amount of proficiency in their marksmanship knowledge; well De Neiro and Pacino do; not so much Kilmer and Sizemore (get your damn elbows tucked in). Pacino almost does look like a trained Marine marksman; both eyes open (eyes on the target not on the end of the barrel), proper footing and bent knee stance, firing almost always on the exhale, not running an shooting (always first stabilizing himself before shooting). They obviously took it seriously and put a lot of attention to detail in it.

I haven't seen it yet. I've heard the entire gamut from friends who have: Some say it's great... others think : MEH? maybe that's why I haven't bothered.

reply

It's well worth it. Definitely not meh. I personally give it around 4 stars /5 (would be 5 for me if it was a little shorter) but it's one I come back to every couple of years.

reply

Yeah it's worth watching. At least once, just to know if it's your type of movie.

"yea i know pacino/de neiro nut i just dont care"

I'm not mad about those two , but its still worth it.
That said i havent felt like sitting through it again yet , and its been about 20 years

Who asked you?

reply

I've seen this more than 10 times. I will see it another 10 times before I die, barring and unforseen circumstances.

reply

You should, it’s got a bunch of good action and tons of good dialog.
