Last week, I followed a lecture about Dracula. He mentioned all the Dracula film versions/interpretations and... Dead And Loving It! I was surprised :D The lecturer (a serious Dracula-connoisseur) said he liked that comedy picture very much, and that it's a good parody and loyal to the original story.
I saw the whole movie (on tv) last year, not expecting very much, certainly when -in advance of watching it- I looked it up on imdb and saw the very low rating. But during the movie I really asked myself, this is not that bad, why does it has such a low rating (there are MUCH worse comedies!). I found it very funny, a bit silly, but hey that's Mel Brooks' style :p
I think it's quite difficult to make a good parody about Dracula and, well, I think Brooks succeeded, there just is no better Dracula-parody than this :)
So, I really don't understand why it's rated so low... Is it because of people who dislike Nielsen or don't like Brooks' comedy or ...??
