The new high school-set Clueless drama TV series will follow the character made famous by Stacey Dash as she attempts to solve Cher Horowitz's mysterious disappearance. It's described as "Mean Girls meets Riverdale meets a Lizzo music video." CBS TV Studios is behind the potential series, with Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey serving as writers. The 1995 Amy Heckerling film was originally spun off off as a three-season ABC/UPN Clueless comedy TV series from 1996 to 1999. According to Deadline, the Clueless project is drawing strong interest from The CW and a number of streamers. As Deadline's Nellie Andreeva explains, the new Clueless series "is described as a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latté and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when the high school Queen Bee (Cher) disappears and her life-long number two (Dionne) steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans. How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend, all in a setting that is uniquely 2020 LA?" No word if Heckerling, who directed the film and created the TV series will be involved.
