Did Shawshank deserve its place as the highest rated film on imdb?

A. Yes
B. Belongs in the top 10
C. Belongs in the top 250

I like this movie, but for me it is D at the highest and if I looked hard enough I'm pretty sure I'd find a 1000 that I'd say are better. I think the thing that kills it for me the most is the manufactured plot twist that sends everything in motion. It's well acted, a feel good movie but I'm aware that I'm being emotionally manipulated more so even than watching a film like the first Rocky which I think is a better film. I don't mind this quality in action/horror/adventure films, but in dramas I prefer something more realistic.

No film deserves to be the highest rated film. But one logically has to be , why not this one.

It bothers me no end that he breaks out thru the sewage pipe, but, comes out to freedom in fresh water. It cannot happen.
