Office Christmas party on Christmas eve?

I just realized Scott's employer had a work Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve

I can't see that

I wouldn't go to any office party, let alone one on Christmas Eve.

Where my wife worked they had a large proper party in the last week of Nov or first week of Dec with alcohol and stuff and it was all very casual and a long night, which may or may not be at the workplace.

Then on Xmas eve they would put on a simple barbecue and soft drinks (soda or light beer) at the workplace for an extended lunch break.

Working in a grocery store, I don't have that problem. But yeah. That made him late seeing Charlie. Then again, Die Hard also had a work Christmas Eve Party going on in it too. But it works better there since without it there'd be no movie.

There are lots of businesses still open/working on Christmas Eve and other holidays although work is usually laidback on those days.

reply

yes but a party at night like that? I know my job would never and if they did no one would go lol

I think it was more common years ago.

Our family had a business that was open on Christmas Eve to at least the middle of the afternoon and often later depending on business. On holidays, there would always been some sort of
spread put out. I remember working helping a delivery past 7 PM on Christmas Eve.

Die Hard 1 (and 2) is also set on Christmas Eve! Banger of a Christmas Party. And also in Scrooge, Bill Murray had his office party (past) on Christmas Eve.
