On one hand, if you save his life, he may call off the dogs out of gratitude that could very likely hunt you and your girlfriend down and murder you.

On the other hand.

He might not. While he's grateful to be alive, that doesn't change the fact that he's pissed off about the way you fucked him. Especially since you just murdered his sole remaining hitman after Jules quit the biz (not that you know that).

With you escaping and leaving him behind, it's essentially guaranteed that the hillbillies would have murdered him after raping him and the likelihood that the remaining gangsters pursue you after the death of Vincent and Marcellus seems slim. There would probably be some kind of power struggle within whatever organization Marcellus ran or it would simply, based on its relatively modest size, would probably fizzle out as the remaining players went elsewhere for work.

I would have left. Woman back at the motel waiting, worrying. I would have gotten out of there, picked up my girlfriend, and headed to somewhere safer asap.

Butch absolutely did the right thing. He sent a clear message to Wallace of'; "I could have easily had a piece of your black ass also". So you should worship and respect me for not having done that. See, Butch could have just killed the first dude. Then simply have allowed Zed to continue on Wallace. And right afterwards, could have gone in for sloppy seconds on Wallace. Mind you, maybe Wallace had already been screwed by the other queer also. And therefore, Butch would have been in for sloppy 3rd's. But Butch decided not to do that and stopped Zed after killing the first queer, so Wallace could have a crack at him for revenge sake.

Of course you go back. Whatever dispute you have with Marcellus can be dealt with later, but you can't leave him to be tortured and murdered. Only a complete sociopath would do otherwise.

Go back, if for no other reason, to clear the debt. By saving Marcellus, Butch took the target off his back.

While he’s banned from that area, he can still exist elsewhere without looking over his shoulder.
