Kind of boring for children

I remember seeing this in theatres back in the day and being quite bored. Its really not a movie for kids but adults will see it as a kids movie...so who was this movie aiming at?

I grew up with the original film and enjoyed it when I was a kid. I think if I had grown up with the remake instead that I'd have enjoyed that one as well.

It's a film about proving the existence of Santa Claus. What kid wouldn't be into that?

It's true. I've tried so hard to like this film, but it was just plain boring, despite the lovely visuals and recycled story. The only parts I liked were Mara Wilson, and when Mr. Kringle grants her wishes at the end of the film, including getting her mom married, a house, and possibly a baby brother.

Last night I rewatched it for the first time in several years and enjoyed it quite a bit. I think that, overall, it's quite a well-made film. I think its reputation would be better and people would be less hostile toward it if there was not an original to compare it to. I think that, if judged on its own merits, it's a solid Christmas movie.
