Woefully underrated

This movie is really fantastic, with a great theme (the media's obsession with, and approval of, "marketable crime"), great acting (including Flea and Anthony Kiedis), great action, and a simulated sex scene that puts Cinemax to shame. Obviously, it wasn't in line for any Oscars, but in terms of entertainment value, it's hard to argue that you're wasting your time watching this movie. This movie is a good; it's fun; it's not perfect, but you know you like it, and not for camp or cult value. It's just a good flick.

yeah, this movie was great. MOST UNDERRATED MOVIE I'VE SEEN!

Just seen it on TV and I have to agree. It was simple but fun and enjoyable.

yup great movie

Jack Sparrow: I am chief! Want big fire!

reply

Definitely entertaining.

Bender: I was God once.
God: Yes, I saw. You were doing well until everyone died

reply

100% agreed!
It's really entertaining and it shouldn't have been bashed by any critics, since it wasn't made with an Oscar in mind and doesn't take itself too seriously. It's pure fun and should be given much, much more credit.

I agree. This movie is just fun. It is not to be taken seriously. It had over the top accidents, sex while going 80-90 mph. A guy holding up a chick with a Butterfinger, The Red Hot Chili Peppers over the top attitude. With Henry Rollins as a freak as well. Great movie and very under rated.

*Jumps on the agreeing bandwagon*

ME TOO! I just watched it earlier today and it was a blast, really, I wasn't in a mood to watch anything, but after the first 10 minutes I was hooked and enjoyed it every last second.

I watched it two days in a row.

Encore just shows the same movies over and over.

Thoroughly enjoyable, and Kristy Swanson is so *beep* hot.

reply

I saw it on Encore last month and it DEFINITELY is underrated because of the way it pokes fun at and also questions the media's sensational way of hyping up and chasing the marketability of a crime.

I have to admit seeing it was eerie because of it's relevance to 1994 in a time capsule and seeing those cadavers made me think about how the movie showed you that the MTV generation from the mid-90's was uniquely entertaining and explicitly exploiting victims of violent crime.

I've loved this movie for years. Of course, the main characters all have their funny moments (especially Sheen), but I always found the media bits to be hilarious. very Hard Copy type of crap. I also thought how odd it was that the cops didn't bother with anybody else in the middle of this chase. For example, when the news van speeds past all the cops to come in line with Sheen's vehicle, I'm surprised at least one of the MANY cop cars didn't try to pull the van over for speeding. Granted I'm looking at this in a serious light, which the movie is meant to be anything but, however I think this is also a detail of the "media blinded by greed" theme of the film.

I've always loved this movie. Catching it right now on Encore.

Looks like Charlie Sheen made an all-time masterpiece since he was actually one of the executive producers and had the one and only Henry Rollins and who else but Kristy Swanson in this fascinating and still too violent movie that was made for a specific type of California crowd at that 1994 moment if you know what I mean. Just look at two of the Red Hot Chili Peppers being in it. This movie in itself is why I really respect Charlie Sheen's acting career despite the Hollywood madame scandal along with Henry Rollins and his jack-of-all-trades abilities. They really pulled off a historic movie because it was a sign as to what would happen in real life 1994California.
