Why was Kellie Martin (Lucy Knight) killed off “ER” so brutally?

Lucy became a fan favorite character, the new young Doctor on the show. I remember when this episode aired, and Carter gets attacked by the crazy patient and then when he looks over and sees Lucy there, bleeding to death, with no one knowing. That was such a shock to the viewers. It made me stomach turn at the time.

ER was such a good show. I consider rewatching it sometimes but never do. I loved George Clooney on it. Such raw magnetism. The show wasn’t the same without him and Julianna Marguiles. I had a crush on Noah Wyle during the first few seasons, where he was the new young Doctor. I loved that by the time Kellie Martin came he was the one training her.

Anyway, she was a big TV star at the time. I never understood why they killed her off completely.

She had other jobs lined up I remember some of the cast mentioning about she wasn't happy.

Great story telling and as most of the stories on the show based on real events which have happened.
