Character you wish was never on the show?
For me it's a toss up between John Stamos and John Liguizamo...couldn't stand either one of them!!

Abby. drama, drama, more drama. Always had a sourpuss expression, rolling her eyes all the time. It got old quick.

shareAbby was the emotional center of the show, following on from Carol. I think Abby's successor was Dr Banfield. The drama aspect being too much for you was probably due to ER having lost its way at that point, and maybe competing with Grey's Anatomy. Abby was meant to be sad and difficult, a bit prickly, struggling with all sorts of difficulties on top of a very intense job.

shareI second Michael Michele. An awful, one dimensional character who added nothing to the show and made everything about the colour of her skin.

shareI thought they were a good match at the time. Unfortunately Eric La Salle (Peter Benton) was against the relationship saying that he felt that it sent a message he didn't like. He pushed for the end of the relationship and that is why it ended.
shareBut LaSalle's point was valid. Benton had had two relationships with strong women of color, and they failed. I dare say that had those two relationships not preceded the Corday storyline, LaSalle might not have objected.

John Stamos' character was such a load. I couldn't stand it. John Leguizamo didn't bring ANYTHING to the table.
At first, I hated Morris and Pratt, but they both matured and they grew on me.
There were a few nurses and interns that were just stupid, so much so that I couldn't remember their names...its funny how all the characters I wish weren't on the show were on the later seasons.
JOhn Stamos as Gates. Pointless retread of "cocky doctor thinks he knows it all". And he was sleazy too. The idea that it was him that Sam finally decided was the one to settle down with was a real eye roller.

My two least favorites.
John Stamos is eternally obnoxious and unattractive to me. I loathed his presence on this show. When he started on this show, I stopped taking it seriously and only continued to watch for its snark value.
I don't dislike Linda Cardellini so I feel more compelled to explain that one.
1. Appeared right when the plots were starting to sound like bad fanfiction, and she was in the middle of a lot of them. The kidnapping plot was unbearable. I felt sad she got raped, that was the only reaction I had other than "give me a freaking break"
2. Hated her with Luka (i'm not a luka fangirl, i just thought their chemistry sucked)
3. Hate that she got with Uncle Jesse Gatesopolis. Gag me.
4. Hate Alex. God, I hate Alex. Not only is he a pain in the ass, by season 13 he looks like a miniature helmet-haired Michael Cera, another little weirdo who annoys me.
5. What's supposed to make her feel more authentic is exactly what makes her feel less authentic. I feel like she's defined by Alex and her plucky quirkiness, not accented or made better understood by them.
The character isn't someone I'd dislike as a person. Yeah, she's needy, but only with boyfriends. If she'd appeared in the late 90s, minus Alex and Stamos, she might've been a favorite of mine.
I have quite a few I couldn't stand:
Dr. Kevin Moretti (I like Tucci but I don't like his character)
Dr. Skye Wexler (what a nympho and flake)
Julia Dupree (the chaplain in the 14th season)
Harold Zalinsky (ugh, he was ANNOYING!)
Dr. Victor Clemente (how did he become a doctor?)
Dr. Dave Malucci (same as above)
Dr. Lucien Dubenko (I absolutely despised him when he first started)
Dr. Dustin Crenshaw (annoying)
Alex Taggart (what a weird kid)
Dr. Jack Kayson (I couldn't stand the way he questioned other doctors and they were right)
Amanda Lee (what a psychopath)
Dr. Janet Coburn (I couldn't stand the way she yelled at Greene in the 1st season)
Dr. Kim Legaspi (she was always a little weird in the way she handled patients)
Dr. John Taglieri (SO glad Carol didn't marry him at the end of season 1)
Dr. Carl Vucelich (what an immoral jerk; he acted bipolar)
Dr. Dale Edson (what a weasel)
Dr. Ellis West (I think he just wanted to get into Weaver's pants)
Cleo.
That chip on her shoulder and her jealousy over Elizabeth even TALKING to Benton grated on my last nerve.
Why in the world she was a pediatrician I'll never be able to figure out because she didn't seem to like kids at all. Doug Ross might have been a train wreck in his personal life but he was a great advocate for the kids he treated, Cleo seemed to disdain them.

I agree! Malucci and Ross both acted like cowboys in that they wanted to do everything alone. Ross always had a good reason. Malucci, however, just wanted to show off. Ross I could tolerate. I was glad when Malucci was fired.

I think Weaver was trying to cover her butt, though, which made me look at her differently - in a worse light. I never understood why she didn't tell the truth. She got better in later seasons, though.
As far as Erik Palladino (Malucci), I totally agree. He is kind of worthless as an actor. I saw him in a movie called "The New Daughter" and he was lousy in that movie, too.
Being reminded of when Malucci was fired, it bugs me a little that his personal life never got explored like pretty much all the other characters' did. All of a sudden he had a kid that he had never mentioned before. What the hell was that about?!
I loved Luca but hated when his character started acting like a jerk....saying to Abby that she's not that attractive and 'Carter can have you'! Awful!

When he was being fired by Weaver was the only time he mentioned it, right? I was trying to figure out if I missed something.
Yes, that was the only time a kid was mentioned re Malucci. I did like the follow up, though, where Weaver says he's never mentioned it before and he says you never asked. A bit of a sting there towards her and his fellow employees.
Yep, that's the only time he mentioned having a kid.
I hated his bravado, though. I hate guys who act like they're the *beep* and like they're so hot they can get any girl they want. It's so not attractive.
I wish Ben (the nurse who got together with Sam)had been in the show longer. He was sweet.
Floored me when he called Abby unattractive. Ouch!

But Amanda Lee was a well-played psychopath. :-D
