Is it really all that bad?

I haven't seen it years but, I remember how much I liked it as a kid.
A lot of the stuff that I've since watched from when I was a kid I still think most is pretty great when I watch it again. However I did like things like power rangers..
So is this that bad?

Which isn't bad, considering the greatness that is Batman & Robin.

It had to have been. This was the first movie I saw without my parents, at the theater, and I went with a friend of the same age. We were kids of the 80's/90's, and we played Nintendo all the time, just like everyone else at that age, so we were really looking forward to seeing this film. Couple that with the fun of not having to go with our parents, and we really wanted this to work.

All I remember was being continually disappointed as the film went on; it was dark, unenjoyable, and very boring as well. Samantha Mathis was hot, though.

Nah, smoke a doobie and watch it, lots of fun.

A "doobie"? Are you in your 60s? Because that's the only even slightly excusable reason for you to be using that term and really, even then you should be punched in the face for talking like that. It doesn't make you sound retro, just incredibly stupid. Just sayin'!

P.S. I'm all for nostalgia, but this is ridiculous. This movie was garbage 20 years ago and it's garbage now, whether it has character named after Mario Bros or not.

I would presume so, check out what Dennis Hopper had to say...

It was a nightmare, very honestly, that movie. It was a husband-and-wife directing team who were both control freaks and wouldn't talk before they made decisions. Anyway, I was supposed to go down there for five weeks, and I was there for 17. It was so over budget.

I made a picture called Super Mario Bros., and my six-year-old son at the time - he's now 18 - he said, "Dad, I think you're probably a pretty good actor, but why did you play that terrible guy "King Koopa" in "Super Mario Bros."?" and I said, "Well Henry, I did that so you could have shoes", and he said, "Dad, I don't need shoes that badly".

The first hour of the film is boring but it gets better to me once they get their trademark outfits.

reply

I rented this back then, but I can't remember if I watched in its entirety.

reply

Yes, it's that bad. It's the only movie I've ever seen in the cinema where a child ran away crying!

I hated it then and I saw it again a few years ago, and it was even worse than I remembered it. Truly wretched.

reply

I just hate how it was written and made. Like make a legit kingdom, not dinosaurs.

If I redid the movie, I'd make it the legit mushroom kingdom. And actually have Bowser, not koopa the human.
