Strangest sequel to get a theatrical release ---> EVER <---?

The first movie was pretty bad and wasn't really that big of a hit and grossed less than it's budget.

But the first film is actually pretty good, although I can't imagine how any studio or distributor would greenlight this sequel.

RIP Brad Johnson. He should have been a movie star.

Can anyone top this?

Michael Pare , star of Philadelphia Experiment also got a sequel to his kickass underrated box office flop "Streets of Fire" , but it went in a different direction and was a total trainwreck apparently

It was a barely ok sequel to an underrated 80s film (there was a lot of underrated films in the 80s). It is what is - a low budget B-movie with a mildly engaging plot.

I'm glad you mentioned Brad Johnson. He's a talented actor, effortlessly manly & bad ass in an understated way. it would've been great to see him in more films. He retired in the 2000s after being forced to do a sequel to Wild Things with Dina Meyer.
