Stuff that went over your head as a kid

I remember watching this when I was a real young kid and a lot of things went over my head. The movie talks about virgins a lot. A virgin lit the black flame candle, Max was a virgin. Had no idea what that even meant back then.

Winifred tells the bus driver she desires children, his response was great - It may take a few tries but I got you or something along those lines. Went right over my head as a kid.

I'm watching it now as was just thinking that LOL. Seems unusually risque for Disney in 1993.

I remember there was a lot of talk about how Shrek ushered in the era of films that were entertaining for kids but that also contained coded humor for adults as well. But Hocus Pocus already did some of that nearly a decade earlier.

Shrek is way way worse... coded humor has been in children's movies for quite a while (I remember E.T. got drunk)... but Shrek takes it to a new level.

The Cat in the Hat with Mike Myers, is probably the most notorious example that I can immediately think of a kids movie that contained a lot of coded humor for adults.

I never saw it but heard it was absolutely awful.

They said "damn" in this movie a lot more than I remembered.

What should we do with him?

Hang him on a hook and let me play with him.

lol a little dark for a Disney family feature. One of the little over looked geniuses of this film is it's subtle reminders it a horror movie for Halloween.

I was never a part of this movie's following. I maybe saw it once all the way through. I recently watched it for the first time in years or ever (fully through) and I laughed my ass off.

The bus driver scene is hilarious because of both the driver and SJP.

Yabos gave me quite a chuckle too.

“We desire children”

“That may take me a couple of tries, but I don’t think that will be a problem”
