Phil should have raped (and killed) Rita

Murder Rita? Good lord, seek help, buddy.

There are a lot of crimes people would probably commit if they went through this kind of time loop but rape/murder is not likely to happen. Although, reliving the same day over and over would drive a lot of people nuts, especially jackasses like Phil. It's hard to say what any of us would do in the same situation without actually experiencing it.

And Phil did break the law numerous times but really, murder? I don't think his soul is that wretched.

Phil probably descended into utter depravity at some point and raped/murders people out of boredom. A darker version of this movie would feature him going insane

Phil's an asshole, not a psychopath. Maybe he should tell her off about what a total stuck-up prude bitch she is, but rape and murder? He's not that kind of guy.

Truth is Phil probably went through a dark patch where he raped and killed every single person in town, maybe even intentionally seeking out the god figure keystone as it were. Movie just didn't show it. We the viewer only get a glimpse of his time in that purgatory.
