did they serve a purpose in the film ? i think one of them dies and the other parachutes and lands hanging upside down, possibly alive and is attacked by wolves. i thought maybe something would happen later or at least the wolves would payoff. did i miss something ?

shareOne is machine-gunned in the back, the other escapes but takes a bullet. Frank rescues him and takes him to the hospital. Last we hear of him he’s ‘in critical condition’.
Their purpose was to show how evil the villains are so that you ‘hope Sylvester will kill them’ as director Renny Harlin says in the commentary. This is also why they kill Frank.
One might say it’s ‘overkill’, it certainly leaves you wondering why the survivors are so jovial at the end of the film, which is aptly retitled ‘Only The Strong Survive’ in France.
