How is it?

I only learned of this show after Coltrane's passing.

Is it worth watching?

reply

Hell, yes.

I seem to be one of the few who didn't like it. I didn't find Coltrane that convincing, and couldn't take to Geraldine Somerville.

It’s fantastic. One of the best. They did an American version that wasn’t very good. Cracker was a profiler and closer trained in criminal psychology. He could sit face to face with the accused and get to the core. Whether they are guilty or not. Be sure and watch the one with the female serial killer. All the while, his life is a mess. A gambler. Drinks too much. Eats too much. Smokes. Married but has a liking for a colleague. Kind of messy like Wallander. But this guy is a genius. He can tell who’s lying. It’s uncanny.

He was electrifying. The relationship with him and "Panhandle" (Jane Penhaligon) wasn't believable because she didn't know why women are attracted to pudgy men. My husband's pudgy, so I know. She didn't hold him like she was attracted to him, or look at him like she was attracted to him. They seemed to be great friends, though.

The mysteries unfolded beautifully. And his cat and mouse with the sickos who perpetrated the crimes were masterful. He inhabited the character and quite frankly, THIS is the role he should be known for.

It declined a bit towards the end but most of it is superb television.
