From your perspective when did MTV start to go downhill?

I thought MTV really started to suck by 1998, to me 1997 was the last good year of MTV.

For me the downhill slide started to occur in 1992, it was a slow descent at first but things didn't start to get really bad until 1998 or so.

Cribs. They lost touch with their audience at that point.
