Why was Wayne’s World 2 (1993) not as successful as the first?

The first Wayne’s World film transcended SNL and hit got in the cultural zeitgeist in a way few other SNL related stuff had. But the sequel's worldwide gross was less than half the original.

They went with a different director for the second WW, don’t quote me on this but I believe Myers had issues with Penelope Spheeris for some reason, even though it was her magic that made the first one what it was. The first WW is brilliant, the second one sucks ass, imo, we’ll maybe it doesn’t suck ass, but it certainly lacks the magic of the first one.
