Does anyone think this was actually a decent film?

I recently re-watched this and to be honest, I don't think it deserves the coin term "so bad, it's good". Yes, MOST of the performances are kinda laughable, the costumes are pretty lazy and the climax is just horrendous. But there are actually a few decent things about this film. Firstly, not all of the performances are terrible. George Hardy does a pretty good job playing Joshua's father and the guy playing Grampa Seth actually delivers a haunting narration during the opening scene. Plus, I really the premise of the film about food that can kill you, I don't know I just find that kinda interesting. Overall, it's a pretty bad film, but not awful.

Most laughable? Pretty much the whole thing is. It is down towards the bottom of the barrel or even further. It is even PG-13 to boot. Usually its people saying the gore ruins it but this one the gore saves it. Actually it doesn't because the acting is so bad, its just bad. it is obvious that an 80's director did not know how to move to the new decade either. Released in 1990 but still 80's way of movies done.

Instead of trolling the boards and comments or forums, its a director trolling the movies.

I am a gore watching freak!!!

If it don't have it, it isn't worth the watch.

It's all about perspective. If you view the film as a comedy, which I do, it is a fantastic, hilarious movie.

This movie is a travesty it's up there with The Room for me. At least the room didn't have bad costumes and special effects.

1. BVS 2. TWS 3. Avengers

I most definitely enjoyed it!

It's a well-made film from a technical standpoint. The director, Claudio Fragasso was an experienced director so knew how to set up and compose shots. It's the combination of bizarre acting performances brought about by the fact that said director barely spoke English and that the majority of the cast were amateur actors, coupled with a frankly bizarre script penned by the director's Italian wife that did not translate as intended. The only way this can be deemed 'the worst movie ever' is if the audience are not well-versed in horror b-movies. There are countless far worse films out there, but the big difference is they are so bad they're a slog to sit through and often completely unwatchable so are quickly forgotten and certainly aren't recommended to other people the way Troll 2 is. Troll 2 looks like an actual movie, and has some degree of merit in it's production values and it's biggest attribute is it's never boring. So in summary, I believe it's more than a decent film, but it's peculiarities are what make it stand out and is the reason it's remembered to this day.
