Best acting in the movie?

Who do you think had the BEST acting in the movie?

I think Holly was fairly easily the worst, but I think ironically Creedence had the best with her over-acting. At least she wasn't under-acting, like a lot of them!

There were a few moments where she actually was decently in character (if you don't get distracted by her crazy eyes.)

Perhaps some characters with less screen-time have arguably a better ratio of "well-delivered" lines, though.

What does everyone else think?

I thought Grandpa Seth's acting was a step above everyone else's (I still don't necessarily mean good of course); he seemed a little more natural, despite having several very dumb lines to say.

Joshua would have been okay if he didn't whine every line.

And the store owner was genuinely weird so major props to him too.

After making the thread, I re-watched the movie and was reconsidering that maybe Joshua had the best acting afterall. But I came to the same conclusion as you in the end, he was whining the whole time. It fit in a lot of the parts, but not all of them.

Grandpa Seth was pretty decent (relative to the other "actors", of course), too. Something seemed extra-cheesy about him to me though. Haha.

Funny enough, it turns out my girlfriend had the same thought about Creedence as I did. And she didn't even know what I thought.

Are you for real?? The actors in this movie are terrible. The best acting is from the trolls....everyone else is just terrible.

reply

"Best" is a relative term, so I never said that they were good. Just better than the rest of the terrible actors in the movie. :P

I would have said Trolls, but they didn't do a whole lot of acting. I suppose they did among the least amount of terrible acting in the movie, though.

Though I still think this film is pretty bad, I'd
also have to say Deborah Reed (Creedence)
did the best acting and like how she lights
up her eyes.

Grandpa Seth and the goblin queen weren't so bad. Even experienced actors have difficulty making bad dialogue sound natural. One also has to wonder what, if anything, the director was after: maybe he didn't care, but maybe they were giving the kind of "performance" he asked for.

the whole crew except the costume designer only spoke Italian. So the costume designer would have to translate what the director was trying to communicate to the actors lol. The scrip was also written by i think the director and his wife and they only spoke italian, which therefore says why the dialogue was so atrocious.

The girl in the "OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD" scene.

Maybe that's because Creedence and Arnold were so ridiculously bad in that scene that she really stood out.

Without a daot, Don Packard is best. But then again, he does not act. He was insane at the tima. My god! What films could he not have done............

reply

Creedence, Grandpa, and Elliot weren't that awful on their own. To some degree Joshua is tolerable and you have to think he's young enough that he couldn't have much experience. Saying any of these characters were well played is only plausible when compared to the rest of this cast.

Brent, IMO. In each and every scene he had, his acting was consistent: confused and aroused. Not unlike the others who act like incompetent retards.

I don't make the rules. I just clean up after the game is over.

reply

Creedence by far because the viewer is left questioning whether her overacting is a wink to to the awfulness of the material or if she is delivering a "straight" performance (ok I also questioned if she was high).

Plus, Credence delivers dialogue smoothly. The speech patters of the rest of the cast sound as if they're speaking a foreign language. She also makes little interesting choices with the role while every other actor makes obvious and boring choices with their lines. So while the odd, robotic delivery of all the other actors is hilarious, the film needs the other extreme that she alone delivers.

reply

Agreed on Creedence. She knew exactly what to do with the material. Excellent performance!

reply

Yeah, I agree. Creedence was the best one for those very reasons. It's as if she belongs in a completely different movie. Aside from her, the only good performances were the general store guy and grandpa Seth.

reply

I thought two of the boys weren't that bad. The one in the yellow shirt and the popcorn guy.

Of course they also didn't have a lot of screen time.
