Guilty Pleasure

I happened to like Sleepwalkers. Stephen King created some bizarre and unique creatures based on vampire mythology and set them loose on a dreamy, picturesque little town in the heartland of America for the sake of tearing it to shreds. The mother and son relationship was sadistically erotic because they had such fierce sexual chemistry, yet on the other hand it was disturbing to watch the incest take place.

The story isn't frightening...it's more like scary fun thanks to the ghoulish effects and over the top cheesiness during certain parts. It was wise for director Mick Garris to stray from making this into a serious film because the material it's based on isn't. And for that reason alone, I think Sleepwalkers succeeds in the end.
