Sister Act 1 vs Sister Act 2

Sister Act 1 all the way for me! Great story, great songs,great characters.

I'm quite young and most young people i know prefer number 2. I don't get it.

Anywhoo which one do you guys prefer?

Oh definitely the first one. The first one introduces the characters for the first time and gets an audience to fall in love with them. Making a second one is nothing special because audiences already met them in the first movie. There were some good things in the second one but the first one hands down was the best of the two.

2 was crap that's why we never got 3, not 2 was crap because there was no 3...Huge difference.

Okay but that's not what "perrymehta1" was trying to say, the user simply said that 2 was crap and so they couldn't make 3 as a result. The sequel though not a bad movie on it's own, just can't be compared to the original vibe of the 1st. They should have waited a few more years before releasing a sequel, they were in a hurry to cash in, and the result was below average...good music though. Anyway they can make a third if they want to with all the original characters from the 1st one, at least they're still alive, Whoopi, Maggie Smith, Najimy, Makkenna, the cop (can't remember his name), and the bad guy (forgotten his name as well), if they make a third one now, after 20 years with the original cast, it would be a guaranteed hit!.

I like them for different reasons. The second one is maybe a bit more cliche, I was just happy to see the characters return for a second installment.

I love them both equally. Both had fabulous music, and the storylines for both were touching and entertaining.

Sister Act was more comedic, and Sister Act 2 was more emotional/drama.

True, the sequal seemed a bit more aimed towards teens, but it still had the adult Sister Mary Clarence touch. I love that the original nuns returned for the sequal. (Although I did always kind of wonder how the nuns switched from regular church life to working in a school?)

Just my opinion, but, I honestly don't see how you could love one and not the other. I understand why you could PREFER one (have a favorite), but how can anyone love one and absolutely hate the other? If I HAD to pick a favorite, as usual, I would go for the original...but I still love the sequal and could watch it just as often.

The novelty of the night-club-singer-becomes-nun thing was gone in the second movie, but the music was still great!

Definitely 1. I liked 2, but it's not one of those movies you can watch again and again like 1.

I loved the first and didn't like the second all that much--it had a cute moment here and there but the first was funny from start to finish while part two was maybe funny for thirty minutes in all.
