Better than the series

This movie was sooooo much better than the series. I hate how people say the series was better, the original is always better. Luke, Kristy, David, Paul and Donald were all great in it. Oh and I can't forget about Hillary Swank and Ben Affleck.

I can't believe this thread is still holding up almost a decade later.

You have to be either the world's biggest retard, or you haven't seen enough of the series to make any semblance of a reasonably educated assessment.

It's just laughable to think the movie is better than the series. The show is one of the all time greats.

While I think the film isn't totally without merit (it's a bit of cheesy fun), it is a bastardisation of what Joss wanted. It's okay entertainment, but absolutely nothing in the movie is of the quality of , say, 'Hush' or 'The Body' .

And Angel the series is even better (IMO) . Angel>Buffy series> Buffy movie

I have more of an emotional connection w the movie. I was becoming a teenager when it came out. I was becoming aware of my parents not getting along. I was discovering my own power and abilities in real life. So yeah even though I went initially bc I had this huge crus bc of Luke Perry and faithfully watched 90210 every week the screenplay is memorable.

I enjoyed the movie MUCH more than the show. I will still watch the movie today, but would not even think to watch the show. Kristi Swanson can actually act. SMG, not so much. Some of you would be well-advised to reasses opinions that you formed when you were 12.

PS I do not give a damn what Joss Wheedon wanted. What I want is to be entertained. What the studio wanted was to make money. Two of the parties got what we wanted.

I like the show for different reason. I was in high school when it came out and my parents separated by then. My mom had moved us to different house. I hung out with 'freaks'. TV Buffy seems more confident.

The OP was clearly on a serious Nostalgia trip when they posted this. There's absolutely no way a single movie could ever be better than a series that lasted as long as Buffy the Vampire Slayer did regardless of the budget.

Buffy had so many iconic moments throughout the seasons that blows this movie away. The movie deserves respect from fans for paving the way but the series definitely took it to greater heights, then the Angel spinoff took it even further.

Should be interesting to find out where they take the reboot next year.

Hell no. The first 3 seasons of Buffy are still epic television. Almost nothing that's as entertaining.
