List some of the best junkie characters performances in movies...

- The lieutenant in "Bad Lieutenant"
- Michel Serrault as Mr Wagner in "Assasin(s)"

I can't think of more right now, I'll post later if I have another idea

Fred Savage in "The Rules of Attraction". That "I can feel my d*ck" line was classic.

Are you kidding me?!?! Robert Downey Jr in "Less Than Zero", hands down. Dude was reduced to homosexual acts he sank so low. Great movie!

reply

Downey Jr. in Less than Zero clearly has to be up there at the top. Somehow I wonder if that was the inspiration for Mr. Mackey's warning to the kids in South Park about "giving blowjobs for crack" as the danger of drugs.

Another famous memerable druggie was Robby Benson in "Death of Ritchie" where his dad played by Ben Gazarra shoots him in the end. Back in the 80's they played that movie for us in school all the time as a warning to stay away from drugs.

Jeremy Irons as Beverly and Elliot Mantle in Dead Ringers.

Late to the junkie party, but...
Feb2007, Apex63(?) mentioned the junkies in Prince of The City. I agree. There wasn't the big drama as with many junkie characters. Just a very realistic and painful to watch and consume shot of their lives. They were on the screen for maybe a couple of minutes but with a subtley chilling and unforgettable effect.

Kudos bigtime to Harvey Keitel for his Bad Lieutenant. Devastation poured from him. Awesome.

Halle Berry selling $2 blow jobs on the street in broad daylight to support her habit in Jungle Fever is hard to imagine now. But that was pretty hardcore junkified.
