Tell me honestly, is this better then the present vamp stuff?

shareSo much better than all of them. Now, to be completely honest, I haven't watched the shows you have listed, but from what I've heard and read about them, Forever Knight is much better.
1. The vampires in FK were at least partially living. Nick had just turned someone and another person saw on the heart monitor the blimp signaling the heart beating again. Nick said that would happen once every ten minutes. As far as I know, the other shows portray vampires as reanimated corpses.
2. FK always had some lesson the viewer could take from each episode and the lessons were good ones and made good sense.
3. The violence in FK was kept to a low to medium level but had begun to rise by season 3, but even then was not too much.
4. FK gave enough in the show so that if you didn't think vampirism was a good thing you were presented things in the show that supported such a viewpoint. From what I've read, these other shows glorified vampirism. Showing it as something not to be desired was kept in the background.
Upon review of this thread I CAN say I've seen all those vampire series. FOREVER KNIGHT remains on top due to its excellent writing and acting.
Everything in the Nineties had cheesy F/X by its nature. There wasn't.much CGI available.at that time.because it hadn't been brought to the scale it could be used in weekly Canadian television production. It was outrageously expensive. Now we see it in every weekly television series because the costs have been reduced to bri+g it low enough to be afforded by every show.
Judging the past by the present is called the Historian's Mistake. It's made often enough that is has another name: the Historian's Fallacy. Don't get caught up in it yourself. One's personal point of view is not the only POV. FK was state of the art for its day. Remember, what's state of the art today will be cheesy 24 years from now. Even VAMPIRE DIARIES will look stupid in a couple of decades. I won't be around to see it (ovarian cancer survivor), but I know what will come to pass...I've seen it. Think of me when you do and how much I have loved vampires all my life.
