In my opinion, Anthony Hopkins in this movie was the best performance of any character by anyone. What do you think?

Peter O'Toole, "Lion in Winter". IMO

No. I find Hopkins 'hammy' at times. I'd put John Hurt in The Elephant Man, Timothy Spall in Mrs Lowry & Son, and most recently Michael Caine in The Great Escaper above it.
