Wow, this movie scared the crap out of me

I accidentally stumbled across this movie's page and had a sudden flashback of being terribly disturbed by the boy turning into an animal and afraid that he wouldn't be able to turn back. Then again I was 4.

reply

The part where that mean owl("Uncle Dookie") blasted through the wall of the boy's room, turning him into a cat. He really wrecked the sh*t out of that room.

I remember nothing about this movie other than that it scared me and at the end the kid almost died or something? :S I need to find it again, I haven't watched it since I was four! :( This movie taught me how to tie my shoes. :]

Much love and BIG KISSES,
Steph

PERKELE!!!

reply

haahaha, yeah! it scared me too..and when i just searched for it the first thing that popped into my head was...whew..this movie was insane..but i loved it!

then i saw this thread...perfect.

I remember this movie! I thought it was so cool that the kid got turned into a cat, though I don't think I was too scared by this one.

"Fern Gully" and that "NIMH" movie did it, though. And does anyone remember the show "Ghostwriter"? The Slime Monster episode really disturbed me.

EDIT: Anyone else remember watching "The Brave Little Toaster"? Ack!

reply

I never heard of a ghost writer but I have seen goosebumps and there was an episode based off the monster blood books which had a slime monster in it, that was the only episode I liked.

I loved Rock-A-Doodle when I was a kid. When ever I went to my grandparents I always watched either it or the chipmunk movie. I recently watched rock-a-doodle and the chipmunk movie while I was baby sitting. Though I was never scared of rock-a-doodle I guess for a kid that watched power rangers adn TMNT when he was 3 and Transformers when he was 5 rock-a-doodle doesnt seem that scary.

OMFG! When I was little I watched this ALL the time but it TOTALLY freaked me out. Especially the Grand Duke & the rooster fight scene. Also, I hated in the beginning when the dog says something about the sun not ever coming up again because in my three or 4-y-o mind, that seemed totally possible.

Don't even get me started on Brave Little Toaster!!! I'm 19 now & I still REALLY DO NOT want to watch it. The mothereffing vent & the song at the repair shop! I get creeped out just typing it.

I don't remember NIMH scaring me but I didn't watch it as much as I did other ones. The first time I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas I couldn't even finish it cuz I was so scared that I was crying. Hexus was just kinda weird but not super scary to me; I loved Fern Gully! Parts of Little Nemo scared me too but I don't exactly remember why. I think that I might have been afraid that he would never come home or something. I don't remember.

& of course pretty much EVERY other episode of Are You Afraid of The Dark!!! Plus most episodes of Fairie Tale Theater and the last ten or so minutes of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. And Ursula in The Little Mermaid!

reply

I actually don't remember being scared of darker animated kids' movies, like Rock-a-Doodle. Probably because that's the only kind o' movies my folks bought me. Yeah, they wanted me to be a Goth.

Ash + Mew = AshMew = BEST. POKEMON. EVER.

I remember I saw this when I was young and thought it was scary, but im born 84 so I was 7 or 8. Still I have like you said flashbacks that I thought it was a frightening movie.

reply

interesting. i wanted some confirmation that this film could frighten children.
so i cant bash. cause i can see various parts that would frighten children.

i was never afraid of this movie. nor any other Don movie.
i guess cause i was desensitized early lol

i watched this and NIMH a lot.

this movie scared me to near death when I was little. I totally forgot about this movie. I just got the chills from remembering lol. creepy stuff.

But dreams do come true, and mabye somthing wonderful will happen.

reply

Know what you mean. Although I was more fascinated with it than terrified. Well, mixture of fear and curiosity. I kept dreaming about being turned into a wolf pup in much the same way Edmond was turned into a kitten and I was always being rocketed away on some fantastic, frightening adventure in a Winnebago with wings...

reply

Wow, this is totally weird. This is probably the ONLY movie I watched as a very young kid that I wasn't afraid of. Actually, this, Brave Little Toaster, and the Pagemaster were the three I constantly watched and never became afraid of.

I don't remember the movies that I refused to watch since I was scared, but there were many of them. Trust me.

reply

Hell yeah that owl was scary as hell!

reply

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was majorly creeped out by this movie.

I still cant watch "Were Back" along with this movie. I saw this movie ONCE- even my brother was scared silly.

I think I'll re-watch it, but I'm not taking this babysitting...
