Matthew was Roy

Does anyone else think that Quigley actually could have been Roy Cobb regretting sending his wife to Australia, so he took the next boat to Aus to try to find her?????

Just a thought.

Seriously, did the OP even SEE the film?

reply

Maybe she came out of her drug-induced haze long enough to comprehend the end of the film when he said that he was Roy to that customs dude. (Possibly that's the 2 seconds lil' Rosebud caught?)

reply

Quigly wasn't Roy
...And Cora wasn't as crazy as she made out either.

reply

I think the OP and rosebud are Quigley and Cora.

reply

Not on this planet and not on Luna, either. Absolutely, positively and completely not a chance.

Matthew Quigley made it clear he wasn't Roy Cobb, Sr. However, the alias did come in handy at the end of the tale...

I'm more concerned with whether they went to Wyoming, Texas, or stayed in San Francisco. Either way, pretty weird moving halfway back across the world on a boat for 3 months with a crazy chick you've known for about a week-and-a-half.

reply

That is a romantic concept, Original Poster, but no, Matthew Quigley and Roy Cobb are not the same man. He simply reminded Cora of him in appearance. That was simply a handy alias for Quigley to use at the end of the film, and also a way to say to Cora that he was her man.

reply

No , I dont think the writers intended this to be the case..

But, when I saw your post, I thought hey thats interesting...

However, dont think it was part of the plot..

Nothing at all to lead to that conclusion.

reply

Mathew was from Wyoming, Roy was from Texas

reply

Yes, actually in the book Quigley had a form of amnesia that didn't allow him to remember specific relationships.
