Period. Back in high school when my buddy Dave and I watched a bad movie we'd always say...that was bad, but Nothing But Trouble is STILL the worst movie ever.
You know: fish, chips, cup 'o tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary fu*king Poppins... LONDON.
I could not agree more with a reveiw !! I used this movie as a measuring board; anyone who ranks this as one of their favorite movies is someone I don't ask for movie recommendations. This movie is so bad, its actually painful to watch
Maybe but it Manos did not have 4 A list actors that read the script and agreed. I cannot imagine what kind of drugs they were taking when their agent gave them this script. If it were my agent... an asswhipping was going to follow.
Chevy Chase as Chris Thorne Demi Moore as Diane Lightson John Candy as Dennis Valkenheiser / Eldona Dan Aykroyd as Reeve Alvin Valkenheiser / Bobo
Chevy Chase's career started slowed down during the 90s, starting with this production, but he was very popular throughout the 80s.
Demi Moore was still on the rise at the time, but her last movie, Ghost, received universal acclaim and she received nominations and awards for her role.
John Candy was clearly at the height of his career at the turn of the '90s, I don't think I need to mention anything specific about him.
Dan Aykroyd was also at the height of his career, after the release of Driving Miss Daisy, which earned him an Academy Award nomination.
Granted they were on the lower end of the "A list spectrum", but they were certainly not B list actors, at that time.
For the record, here's each actor's "Star Currency" ranking, as of today, according to Forbes.
Demi Moore is 110th Dan Aykroyd is 537th Chevy Chase is 731st John Candy is dead...
Long story short, I don't know where you draw the line between the A-list and the B-list, but if Adam Sandler is ranked 12th and considered part of the A-list today, then I'd argue that the 4 stars of this movie were about as famous in the early 90s as Adam Sandler is today.
As far as comedies go, those were A-listers, just like Adam Sandler is part of the A-list nowadays.
Yes, that's pushing it, but people paid to go see Chase/Aykroyd/Candy play in "bad" comedies the same way people still pay to see Sandler play the exact same character, in the same exact movie, twice a year.
This wasn't a movie. It was an abortion. Terrible! Terrible! Whoever had ANYTHING to do with making this movie should have been blacklisted from Hollyweird PERMANENTLY! (And Chase, Aykroyd, and Candy were three of my favorites. UNTIL I saw this.)
