Donald Sutherland part

It's still my favorite part of the film. When his character explains not only to Costner, but to the audience as well the whole conspiracy. Great film

reply

There's a lot of subtext to this film that needed tying together to make things coherent. X's long explanation does that in an essential way.

It's my favorite scene in what is still one of my all-time favorite films.

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

I love that scene so much. It's seriously one of my favorite scenes from any movie ever. Sutherland was absolutely masterful. He only had like a 10-minute role in a 3-hour movie, but he was one of its most memorable parts.

reply

Me too, my favourite part of the film. I wonder what he thought when he saw his five page lone dialogue  yet he made every word riveting.

Very good fiction. Very little fact.

reply

What's not true about what he stated?

reply

You’re an IDIOT. Everything he said was true. He was explaining all the conspiracies that were touted at that time. Whether any of those conspiracies happened is another story. But those were the stories at the time

reply

He was brilliant.

It's still my favorite part of the film.
Yes, this and the courtroom scenes are my favourite parts without a doubt.🐭

Man I was almost traumatized by those photos of jfk's autopsy. Still Kevin have great conviction in his speech and made me feel that the American people deserved the truth no matter how horrible it is.

Sutherland had an ominous presence and made the take seemed like it was true. I don't know why he couldn't do the same as merrick, but he impressed me with that scene.

reply

Great scene, Sutherland’s character is more of a plot device than an actual character but the acting and execution of the scene is so well done.

reply

what exactly prevent him from feeling like "actual character"? do you need to know the history his parents it order to convince you of something? how many children he has? he has something to say so he says it.

reply

Agree. It's excellent and thought provoking.
