Really do not care how much these flicks are looked down upon

I was born in '84 and have been raised in the Schwarzenegger/Van Damme/Seagal action era. This is the stuff I literally grew up watching and still, at 26, love them just as much. There is something about the martial arts pictures of the late 80's/early 90's that had a whole lot of charm and atmosphere. Unlike today's action flicks, they did not look like music videos, with that candy coated, high contrast/glossy picture that's so ubiquitous today, with epileptic seizure inducing editing. In the older flicks, like in Double Impact, the shots were tight and simple, they used TRIPODS (no gratuitous shaky handheld camera way too close to the actors) and you got a clear sense of geography; you see exactly what's going on and who's hitting who. That's the kind of stuff I appreciate. I'll take Double Impact over Transporter any day.

If there are any other DI fans out there, speak up!

You're right, there's a certain charm and feel about the good old school action flicks. I recently bought the Walmart exclusive JCVD triple set on BluRay which has Cyborg,Death Warrant and Double Impact in HD. The PQ is great.

They just don't make em like that anymore. Modern martial arts flicks lack heart. Not all of them are bad, but I think the majority of them could learn a thing or two from the old school classics. Seagal and JCVD were the masters back in the day. I'm slowly collecting their early stuff on BD. Would love to see Hard Target in HD.

You said it!
I get so nostalgic for Van Damme movies. Used to have so much fun watching these.
I'll never have as much fun doing anything as I had watching these JCVD/Arnold movies when I was a kid.

Some of these old school action flicks were much better than people gave them credit for (especially a few of Van Damme's movies). And, yes, most of the new action stuff is unwatchable for the reasons the OP stated.

As for Double Impact, I mostly like it for Van Damme's performance (he was very convincing portraying two people), but it's a well-done and fun action movie.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!
