The Adventures of Pete & Pete The Secret World of Alex Mack Clarissa Explains It All The original All That (Lori Beth Denberg was my favorite!) Hey Dude Are you Afraid of the Dark? Salute Your Shorts Welcome Freshman Legends of the Hidden Temple Guts (although, it was just something to keep me entertained when MTV didn't have good music videos on) The Secret Files of Shelby Woo Wild-n-crazy kids What Would You Do? (I still have the theme song to that stuck in my head to this day) Figure It Out Kenan & Kel Doug Get The Picture Rugrats Double Dare
I also remember always coming home from school and watching Stick Stickley host Nick in the Afternoon.
Ah man, good times, good times. I wish they would make a channel just for old Nick shows, I'm sure it would be a hit.

I agree. There is the channel with all of the old Nick game shows and I love it. But like you, I want more...I want a channel for all of the old TV shows from Nick as well.

I think there is a channel like that if you get hundreds of channels. It's Nick Gas or something. They played Legends of the Hidden Temple. (My friends and I were silver monkeys for Haloween last year.)
Ah yes, that Nickelodeon Gas? or something such as that. Not a bad channel at all, I don't mind watching the old game shows, it's like a blast from the past for me. But we need old Nick shows also, *sighs* maybe there's a petition or something. Though, I guess I'm stuck either downloading the old shows or finding them on some internet site.
I just figure that the kids now don't know what they're missing. But, I know when I have children that I'm going to find DVD's and such of those old shows so they can watch them.
I don't remember fifteen at all...I'm old enough to know all of the shows, I watched every other one, but that one makes me draw a complete blank....weinerville hasn't been mentioned yet haha...and remember those weird commercials they would have? one was just a company exchanging boxes to a make a rhythm...that's the only one I can remember right now...
#51"That's right, one can make all kinds of explosives using simple household items"
LOL! I'm wondering if the show was called Fifteen at all seeing as I'm the only one to remember it. Weinerville sounds familier, but I don't remember much about it, you gotta jog my memory for me, please.
Oh, yeah, I remember those weird commercials they had. I have been looking up old nick ads on youtube and I have found some old ones, but not a lot.

this all is bringing up memories but i just dont see how the younger kids can remember it since my younger sisters dont really remember it they were too young i watched anything nick i remember all the little commercials they did and everything i even remember trying to make my own stick stickly in art class or when he was trying to make the biggest rubber band ball and he wanted everyone to send in a rubber band
yea old school Nick was the greatest. I couldn't wait to gather around for SNICK(Doug, Ren and Stimpy, Are you Afraid, etc) and saturday mornings were worth getting up at 5AM. I'm sorry but noone brought up Sharon Lois and Bram and that was an essential part of my childhood. I even went to one of their live shows. (Nick hilights: Kenan in the bathtub speaking french, Ross Perot and his 4 billion dollars, and anytime there was a dramatic finish on the Agrocrag (sp))
I was born in 1982. I miss old Nick so much. And I just have to comment on someone who said about Stick Stickly....you are not alone. One day, I just started singing that song and my boyfriend looked at me like I was nuts because he didn't remember it! That was def. a tune that you could remember for a very long time.
Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, and Are You Afraid of the Dark were my favorites. Oh and Clarisa Explains it All. I always wanted her fashion style.
Most Nick is crap now...just like MTV. It's sad to see these 2 networks go down the drain. Yes, even though I am 25 years old, I still watch Nickelodeon. I can't help it...
Ahh yes the good ol days. I was born in 1984. Man if I could time travel....
1. Rugrats 2. You can't do that on television 3. Welcome Freshman 4. Salute Your Shorts (my favorite and made me wanna go to camp which I did in 1993). 5. Are You Afraid of the Dark? (the Midnight madness scared the crap out of me lol). 6. Adventures of Pete and Pete 7. Doug 8. Clarissa Explains it All 9. My Brother and me 10. Rocko's Modern Life 11. Hey Dude 12. Legends of the Hidden Temple (and yeah those kids were stupid as f#$%) 13. Guts 14. Wild and Crazy Kids (I remember some of the cast from Salute Your Shorts on it) 15. Nick Arcade 16. Secret World of Alex Mack 17. The People of Tomorrow (was English) 18. All That (original) and Kenan and Kel 19. Ren and Stimpy
And this is also for other TV shows that were on....
1. Ducktales 2. Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers 3. Tale Spin 4. Ghostbusters 5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 6. Heathcliff
Man my brain is hurting. Yall had me on a roll. It sucks that kids today can't see these great shows and have to deal with Spongebob (I can't understand that craze.)
My daughter was born in 1986 so I enjoyed the Golden Age of Nick right along with her. One thing funny in our house is that I will say a Rug Rats quote to my wife and the kids don't necessarily remember it! My second daughter was born in 1991, same as Rug Rats, so she pretty much grew up with those babies. She even had a pretend brother Tommy who was a combination of Tommy from Rug Rats and Tommy from Power Rangers. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters was pretty good (I say this because some people have bashed it) and did you know by the same people as Rug Rats? Some of the same voice actors, too. Yes, there should be a Nick Classic Channel and could throw in some PBS shows like Wishbone and Ghostwriter. Also, I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Famous Jett Jackson from the Disney Channel. So what there really should be is an 80's - 90's channel! It could include shows from any network like Pinky and the Brain, Anamanicas, Power Rangers, etc. Cartoon Network has done this somewhat late at night with various shows like Dilbert, Futurama, etc. I could definitely be their head of programming...
My 13-yr old recently watched some eps of Hidden Temple and she couldn't stand it any more because the kids were so dumb!
To all the posters who are saying that some of the kids were too young to remember all the shows-- another poster noted that many of them were repeated for years.
Our favorites: 1. Rug Rats 2. Clarissa Explains it All 3. KaBlam! (Action League Now and Prometheus and Bob which you can watch here: http://http://www.pandb.org/episodes.php/ or on YouTube) 4. Guts (and Global) 5. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters 6. Double Dare (and Family) 7. Doug 8. The Amanda Show 9. All That 10. The Secret World of Alex Mack (got lame towards the end, though) 11. The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo 12. Hey Arnold! 13. Eureeka's Castle 14. David the Gnome 15. Maya the Bee (an older import)
Oh, and Sharon, Lois and Bram was my second daughter's favorite. My third daughter was totally into Blue's Clues.
Oh, and how come no one has mentioned The Mysterious Cities of Gold?
Here are some other ones that beong on the list: The Wild Thornberrys (yes, it's newer than the rest, 1998) Gullah Gullah Island Muppet Babies 100 Deeds For Eddie McDowd
wut sucks is i loved all these shows now its like they have the stupidest shows ever! not just on NICK but in genreal i have 3 cousins all of them want to be hannah montannah i feel so bad for them they have no true shows lol i'll confess i'm t.v. addict but i even i don't wach these new sht-shows
Kenan & Kel Sabrina, the teenage witch Rugrats Sister Sister Alan Strange Action League Are you afraid of the dark Tucker Roccos modern life Aah real monsters Doug Hey Arnold! My cousin Skeeter
I love all of the shows listed here, but even though it came a little later, I also really loved Animorphs! (Even if they did take a lot of creative leeway with the way some things were written in the books when they translated it to TV)
Nickelodeon used to be the best channel on the planet. If there was a Nick channel that never did anything but completely repeat that half decade or so and just cycle that over and over again - no complaints from me. I could cycle those years repeatedly and never question it.
A lot of people look back on their favorite shows or those 'golden ages' and they are like, "wow, I can't believe I liked that crap." Or maybe they have this syndrome that happens with every generation where they think the things going on in their prime decade of youth was the best ever... but it just wasn't.
Nickelodeon is different.
That combination of thorough entertainment and high level of quality was unprecedented and has been unmatched henceforth.
This is not to say that it wasn't hit or miss... Of course there were tons of horrible programs on during this period, and not to offend anyone's favorites but a lot of them just weren't living up to the standards that had been set out, or were misguided in their approach. These shows were, in my mind, the signaling of the demise of my favorite channel:
Figure it Out - way too chaotic and disjointed to even work. The guests and contestants had no idea what was going on at any point. Lame attempt at holding on to the fun things you were killing off.
All That - Too limited in appeal and turned a whole generation onto horrible music by forcing musical guests into view that had no business being there. Da Brat, for instance. Can you think of more? I think you can.
Roundhouse - this show belonged on Disney.
Snick House - Just stop doing that thing that you are trying to do!
Nickelodeon felt like a subculture (but still mainstream, obviously) and then it did a 180 and became way more mainstream than it should have ever been allowed to be. If you're going to do something so absolutely stupid - make a new channel for it instead of dulling the youth of the world.
The death of Nickelodeon completely eliminated the brand of entertainment I was in tune to. You can't even imagine how devastated I was. It marked the point in my life where I actually stopped being a kid. I don't know who was responsible for those changes, but I credit them with tearing out what could have been extremely formative years for creativity. Thanks a lot, Jerk Executives. The next generation that takes over these channels is going to have this memory of how things should be, and hopefully it will all be set straight once again.
People that watched strictly Disney are going to lose out on this because that channel has always been crap. No one that watched that and didn't watch Nickelodeon has grown up with a proper frame of reference for anything and I'm certain of it. That channel is watched by the brainless idiots that need constant reassurance of how special they are. The whole extreme self-confidence building trend that started in the 80's has been proven to actually do more harm than good, so please abandon that as a meaningful structure.
The Disney kids of my generation are now the entire generation of today's youth who are forced to suffer mindwarping hogwash that is on every single channel. Have you seen what kids are watching? It's destroying them. There's no thought behind any of it and there's no value in watching it. Nickelodeon in our time reminded you that TV rots your brain and you know, maybe it did. Of course it did. But it rotted in a very keen way much like mold on grapes. I'm not saying we are fancy wine for watching Nickelodeon, but I am saying that today's kids are just an orchard of moldy apples with bees crawling through their gaping, soulless bodies.
Executives today don't understand the sheerly incredible nature of what was on then and why it clicked so well with us. Or maybe they don't want to because Nickelodeon didn't raise sheep, and sheep are ideal for business.
Working in the entertainment industry, it is my lifegoal to make this switch back to programming of pure genius and worthwhileness a reality. Businesses set out to make profit, sure, but at what point do you really need so MUCH profit? Who cares if you alienate 50% of your former audience if you're going to make sure that the remaining 50% don't turn into raging buttheads when they grow up? The future matters more than the present.
But all is not lost for all you suits that just want bigger bank accounts.
Executives: Think about brand loyalty. Think about all of these people posting here remembering the amazing shows that they loved, and can STILL watch and enjoy and maybe even appreciate more. Do you want your former audience to pass on that brand loyalty to their kids or do you want them to realize what trite crap is on now and make the switch to something else? Is it that difficult or pressing upon your wallets to at least have some thought and substance supporting the millions in merchandise you sell each year or does it really have to be mindless drivel inside and out? Think about it. Solid backbone or spineless jellyfish - the choice is yours.
End rant.
PS What was that show with those British (Australian?) kids in some weird castle or old schoolhouse or something? I think that possibly they time traveled? It is agonizing to try and recall the title!
I think your're talking about the tommorrow people Invader Zim and Avatar our the only shows that are good on nick my list (born 81)
The Adventures of Pete & Pete ( Salute Your Shorts Legends of the Hidden Temple Guts Ren and steimpy Get The Picture Inside Out Boy Roccos Modern Life You Cant Do That On Television Mr. Wizard
I can't belive no one has mentioned !!!!!!Mysterious Cities of Gold!!!!!!
Was the show with the time traveler kids Strange Days at Blake Holsey High? It's a newer show (2002) but they went to a school with a castle and paranormal stuff happened.
I miss all the shows the posters on here keep mentioning.
A few I miss from other channels are: Big Wolf on Campus So Weird Daria Darkwing Duck and some others I can't think of right now.
I'm gonna throw my 2 cents in on the whole "Golden Age Of Nick" topic. I COMPLETELY agree with you... I was born in 1980, so I was old enough to truelly enjoy this time period... Reading all of the comments here has brought back such happy memories for me. I still remember staying up on Saturday night to watch Snick. Clarissa Explains It All, Are You Afriad Of The Dark?... I literally got chills remembering. Some of my all time favorites were: The Adventures of Pete & Pete (Another AWESOME show!!!) The Secret World of Alex Mack All That (original cast, of course) Hey Dude Salute Your Shorts Legends of the Hidden Temple Guts Figure It Out Doug Get The Picture Inside Out Boy Roccos Modern Life You Cant Do That On Television Mr. Wizard
Makes me yearn for the good ol' days =)
Kids television is utter crap nowadays. You guys are right, it's filled with over confident, spoiled little twits who have nothing better to do then pose in front of their mirrors, or whine "OMG, like, I'm the only girl in the 5th grade without a cell! Daaaaaaaaaddy!"
Makes me weep for the younger generation. I totally stand behind the idea of a classic Nick channel. The gameshows on GAS are pretty awesome, but I want a channel where I can really step back in time to those SNICK days =)
Hey Amber. Folks have a lot to say about the Golden Age of Nick. LOL, my little thread gets longer. I am so glad you brought up Mr. Wizard's World! I used to watch it and wanted to do some of the stuff, but didn't.

Anyone remember Around The Twist? I wish Nickelodeon would launch a channel with all these old shows! I bet it wouls attract high ratings.
I was also born in the 80's and was totally hooked to nickelodeon. The cities of gold, Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern life, Angry Beaversand Rugrats are my all time fav cartoons.
