You can't do that on television

Pete and Pete

Welcome Freshman

Fifteen

Clarrissa explains it all

Salute your shorts

Hey dude

Wild-n-crazy kids

What would you do?

Old school Double Dare

Ren and Stimpy

All that(the original)

Guts and Global Guts

There is another show where thay have to find stuff in the different rooms...yeah that show.

there are some I know I'm forgetting.

It's Deuteronomy, not do it to me Rodney.

reply

Roundhouse was awesome too...

And so was alex mack.

reply

[deleted]

"There is another show where thay have to find stuff in the different rooms...yeah that show. "

might you be referring to legends of the hidden temple? that show kicked ass except the kids on it usually sucked at all the puzzles and stuff

reply

legends of the hidden temple would have been SO much better if the kids weren't complete morons. Yeah I said it.

I would have totally won if I went on that show.

reply

oh most definitely. even when i was like 7 i remember being like "oh my god, is she about to... oh brilliant, go straight for the shrine of the silver monkey like an *beep* and lose your pendant of life, stupid blue barracudas."

i'm spending a year dead, for tax reasons.

reply

So true!

I was on the show and my partner stunk! We didn't even make it past the moat. He got so close to the ledge, then fell in at the last second. Several times. It was like rewinding and playing a clip of a car wreck over and over again. I won a lifetime supply of chocolate out of it (which lasted a few months) and a gift certificate to Fashion Bug.

Oh, and I was an Orange Iguana. Still have the shirt.

reply

thats so amazing. i remember watching this and wishing i was in it, but my dad would never let me call them.

your full of organs and blood.

LOL!!! Thats so messed up! Damn, Fashion Bug?? When I think of Fashion Bug, young and hip never comes to mind, their clothes have stitchings of little tweety-birds on them for godsakes.

reply

Yeah, dude. Legends of The Hidden Temple. Dude, as a kid I used to think that show was totally awesome! Now as an adult watching at on the Nick game show chennal, I'm like what da hell! It's so effin simple ya dumb a$$es! LOL.

-Not everyone; just maybe 99.999999% of them deserve to be flatheads.

reply

The golden age of Nick ended in 2000, but I think that "Taina" was good.

reply

The golden age of Nick ended way before 2000.

reply

i used to love are you afraid of the dark, and what about goosebumps? or was that on a diff channel?

reply

anyone remember the show with 2 brothers? they were african...i forgot and if you know please help! thanks!

reply

I think you are talking about My brother and Me, I could be wrong though.

reply

Yeah, the show is My Brother and Me.

reply

Keenan and Kel?

reply

I love almost all of what everyone has mentioned. I even remember being able to see decent reruns of shows such as Lassie and Dennis the Menace. There was also Danger Mouse and Count Duckula. I am seriously scared about what kids today are watching because nothing is as good as it used to be. Okay, the last show I actually watched for real was Caitlin's Way, but that was geared towards an older audience anyway. I am 22 almost 23 too.

reply

cousin skeeter?

reply

That made me think of a show called gullah gullah island...Nick jr...anyone remember that?? OH ALSO...anyone remember "Face"..the guy on nick jr who spoke during commercials and changed colors

reply

[deleted]

I believe this show was called Finders Keepers. There was a house with really messy rooms in it and they had to find stuff. Similar to Legends of the Hidden Temple, but came before it

reply

my brother and me was pretty funny. corny, but i enjoyed it when i was younger.

reply

I loved all the shows mentioned except Roundhouse and All That. Those were a little after my time (I was born in 1982). I LOVED the show Are You Afraid of the Dark.

Did anyone else have a hard time with the transition between Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch? To me Melissa will always be Clarissa. She's had many roles, but Clarissa was the best.

reply

I was born in 91 and remember all theses shows u speak of. I loved them all. The old All That rocked by socks! With Lori beth and all them, it was soooo funnie! Speak of funnie, remeber Doug? He's my homeboy! Disney ruined him, tho. I think the Amanda Show was the last great shwo on Nick.

reply

the Amanda show was not good at all. i think when marc summers hadthe halloween special, that was amazing, or when wild and crazy kids was on on sundays, that was amazing....just thinking about it, i was watching so much nickelodeon back then, it's crazy. i agree, the golden age ended around 1996, soon after hey arnold went on the air. i think rocket power was the last show i actually enjoyed, but that was past the era by a couple years.

reply

I LOVED "ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?" OMG..THAT WAS MY JOINTTT

- "ALL THAT" ... THE OLDSCHOOL CAST

- DEF. SALUTE YOUR SHORTS

- AAAH!!!!! REAL MONSTERS

I CAN GO ON...BUT I WON'T

THEY SHOULD MAKE A CHANNEL JUST FOR THESE SHOWS AND CALL IT NICK SR.

LMAOOOOOOOOOO

Ah yes. The days of good old school Nick.

Clarissa, Are you afraid of the dark?, Pete and Pete, Rugrats, Legends of the Hidden Temple, The show with the really big mountain at the end, can't think of the name... All these shows and sooo many more were AWESOME!! :) I miss old school!

I seriously agree w/ that Nick SR idea, that'd be soo awesome! :) haha

theres more i cant think of them right now.

reply

born 1984....I think I have to agree with the 1996 thing, for me it ended with Ahh! real monsters which kinda bored me.

Anyone remember mr. wizard or kid's court? I never hear anyone talk about those.

reply

I DEFINITELY remember kids court! it was on pretty early in the morning though for me, around 6:30, 7 so I rarely got to see it.

reply

I loved mr. wizard. I still hold out hope that one day when I am randomly up at 5:00 am it will be on.

reply

Yeah, AHH! real monsters was lame.

i'm 18, my sister was born in 84, and we watched these shows together as kids.

i don't get how all these 13 or 14 year olds can even comment on shows like salute your shorts... it came out in what, 91? they weren't even born yet.

reply

Double Dare 2000? that show sucked the classic was the best, Legend of the hiddin Tomb was amazing to, and Wild and Crazy Kids, and also the show about the Ab Libs i think that is what it was

reply

Bobby's World was on Fox. But yeah, that show was uh-MAZING!

reply

[deleted]

my favorite show was are you afraid of the dark

reply

[deleted]

Eureeka's Castle was so good... quality children's entertainment.

reply

Im was born in 1992 but my brother and I would always watch those shows..i remember them like it was yesturday.

reply

Holy crap! this thread has been going! That goes to show you just how quality Nick was back in the day. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember it being as sugary, fluffy and goofy as it is now. With shows like Pete and Pete and the original All That, there was something about them that today's Nick shows are lacking. I can't put my finger on it but I can see the difference. That Ned Declassified show and the one with the stepbrothers( I can't think of the name of the show, with the supposedly heartthrob and the one guy that was fat). Those shows are ok, but there is too much slapstick. Its like they're being goofy just to be goofy.

reply

Everyone has forgottin show that was of course KENAN AND KEL!! Aww here it goes!! it was awesome! i seen every episode like a bizzilion times each but they wer still funny!! how cud u all forget it?? wer are kenan and kel at now???

reply

I didn't forget Kenan and Kel. Kel went to my ex's high school. That show was funny. I liked it cause they were from All That.

Well last I saw of Kel, he played a seamtress classmate of Kim Parker on The Parkers.

Kenan is a regular castmember on Saturday Night Live. He has been for a few years now. I like him in that skit Deep House Dish.

Crazy Diamond#35

-Not everyone; just maybe 99.999999% of them deserve to be flatheads.

reply

I totally agree! They are being unnecessarily goofy just to be goofy in todays kids shows. They also have this new kind of corny and cheesy, they try too hard and its so annoying! Ned is like this, but I kinda like that show, but everything else is terrible.

Don't read this

reply

I totally agree. I'm 21, so I was around at just the right time for the "Golden Age." I took a nanny job two summers ago, so I ended up watching some Nick with the kids, and it isn't even close to being the same. They lost whatever touch they had.

The best Nick shows in no particular order:

Wild and Crazy Kids
Double Dare/Family Double Dare
Are You Afraid of the Dark (Actually, everything on the original SNICK)
Hey Dude
Salute Your Shorts
Clarissa
You Can't Do That On Television
Fifteen
Welcome Freshmen
Pete and Pete
Finders Keepers
Nick Arcade
Alex Mack (IMO, the last good Nick show)

I'm probably forgetting stuff. I wish they'd make a Nick Classic channel that only aired the late 80's, early 90's Nick Shows. And does anyone remember all the other stuff they used to do, like Kids Pick the President (I remember trying to call in forever to 'vote' for Clinton in '92) and the Super Toy Run?

reply

Yep. I remember Super Toy Run sweepstakes, and how I always wanted to do it. But I wouldn't have been able to anyway, b/c my Aunt worked at Nickelodeon in the 90s, and now she works at Universal.
And I also remember the President thing.
And how they'd sell Gak
and all these messy Nickelodeon products (I got Nick Spin Art a long time ago, and I still remember how bad it smelled)

Oh, how I miss the wonderful golden years of the early 90s, when everything was simple, and I wasn't going through the pressures of being a HS senior and getting ready for college. I'm going to be 18 in a couple months, and as I reflect on how my life is going to change drastically, I just really wish it was 1992-1995 again. Those were the best years of my life. (2001-2003 are an exception)

I look at my old home videos from the early to mid 90s, and I wish I could just jump in the TV and be there again.

Don't Genius Live in a Lamp?-Patrick Star

reply

Saved by the bell was class!

reply

So tru lol

reply

Does anyone rember Stick Stickly?
I would buy popsickles just for the express purpose of eating them so I could make my own stick stickly's out of them!

reply

I tried doing that, but it didn't look anything like him, lol

Don't Genius Live in a Lamp?-Patrick Star

reply

holy crap, for some reason, still remember stick stickly's song that he used to give out the mailing address for the show...

write to me, stick stickly
PO Box 963
New York City, New York State 10108

how scary is that?

i'm spending a year dead, for tax reasons.

reply

My boyfriend just did the Stick Stickly thing yesterday....hilarious. There is no way that anyone born in the 90's watched these shows during its heyday...I was born in '81. Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts were my favs. Mr. Wizard is old-school...but it was excellent. Does anyone remember Nick when it was the Pinwheel network?

reply

Loved Nickelodeon in the 90s...I totally agree with whoever said Nick should have a Nick Sr. Channel...it would be a sort of modern twist on TV Land...

Does anyone remember the Mystery Files of Shelby Woo?? I really loved that show! Old School All That was awsome! I used to love Lori Beth in Vital Information...or Kennan and Kel in good burger...good times...

Nickelodeon today really stinks...they have all of these pointless cartoons and the sitcoms they have are rubbish...the only thing i'll sometimes watch is Spongebob...

reply

What was that show where the kids showed off their inventions? The host was Summer Sanders...

I seriously need that alarm clock some kid invented that squirted water in your face to wake you up.

reply

My faves were...
Scooby Doo!
Are you afraid of the dark?
Rugrats
Sabrina the teenage witch
Legends of the hidden temple
Aah Real monsters
Clarissa explains it all

... wow its hard to think back that far!!! brain hurts!...

Teenage mutant ninja turtles
there was a show with dinosaurs and there was like a baby and his sister and their parents... anybody know what that was??? (IT WAS AWESOME!!)
Ghost writer
Power Rangers!
goosebumps
Doug
Finder's keepers
the mystery files of shelby woo
Keanan & Kell
so many more
I disagree, it ended in '98 when I was six! 1999 they started gettin all 3d on us instead of the 2d we were used to! yes, Im also fourteen and these shows were fricken hilarious/GREAT!

reply

I was born in 89 and does anyone remember the shows on nick back in the 80s and early 90s that weren't exactly made by nick but was shown on nick such as that cartoon called the adventures of tintin? that was a cool cartoon, i don't remember much of it though...i think it was about this adventure guy with this dog named snowy and they went on adventures. it was some french cartoon translated in english. or does anyone remember gumby? i'm sure there was more but i don't remember much but tintin was cool. inspector gadget was on it for a while also.

Wow I just remembered some more stuff...those old nick comercials...I remember one where this girl threw a dog bone and they were singing nickelodeon and the bone was fliping with the camera and then the dog caught it. or the one where some kid dropped a dime or something and some guy was trying to get the dime but people kept walking and when he almost got the dime, a kid picked it up and he looked pissed. Ummmmm....oh yeah there was one where some little girl was walking in a school cafeteria and dropped her food then she started singing a song or something. there was another comercial for nick where it was this plate thing and it showed vikings going ahhhhhhh. lol i dunno. i'm weird. but yeah i didn't see anyone mentioning other classic shows that weren't exactly made by nick but was shown on it and old comercials that a lot of us probably forgotin...tryin to brightin everyone's memories lol.

reply

I used to watch Gumby all the time, he fricken rocks!!! So did Inspector Gadget!!!

reply

I think Invader Zim was their last decent show but that was way after Nick's golden age.

reply

Just one more show I'd like to mention (not sure if it was on nick but it was awesome!) Wishbone, was an awesome show!!! Anybody else remember it?

reply

I loved Nick when i was younger, the hay-day for me was like 1999 or so. I loved Are you afraid of the dark?, Kenan and Kel, Sabrina, Two of a Kind and how could nobody mention Sister Sister? I loved that show! I used to love when they did Sabrina Sundays or whatever i'd stay in all day and just watch loads of episodes i had seen a million times lol

Isla Fisher Rocks!!!

reply

wishbone was *beep* awesome and it was on KPBS the adventures of tin tin was sick too about the show with the family of dinosaurs it was called dinosaurs
there was so much good stuff on tv back i wish had a time machine just to go back and watch tv all day like i did when i was a kid. tv sucks now

reply

LOVED WISHBONE!!!! LEGENDARY!!!!

reply

Figure It Out, but it wasn't just inventions, it was like... weird talents or awards they'd won too!

SUMMMMMERRRR SAAAAAAANDERSSS

i loved the announcer.

reply

That show was Figure it Out. There was a Nick star panel who had to ask yes/no questions. Kind of 20 Questions with slime and stuff.

reply

ahh it was Figure it out! i also remember What would you do. haha with the chair and pies in the face. this is seriously, THE most interesting thread i have read on imdb thus far.

reply

Don't feel bad jane_gallagher, I have memorized stick stickley's song too, hehe.

reply

haha i miss old nickelodeon, those shows represent my wonderful childhood

reply

I am surprised (but not at the same time) that no one has mentioned KABLAM!! I liked that show, it was randomly funny, with lots of little cartoon shorts. I even saw it aired recently on the N or some secondary cable Nick network, and I was happy. My favorite was the "Action Team--NOW" With the plastic action figure super heroes. Loved it.

I also loved all of the other shows everyone has mentioned. It does bring a tear to my eye to remember how carefree those days were, when I had nothing else to worry about other than making sure I got to watch all my favorite shows (All of them primarily on Nickelodeon) before the day was over.

reply

Ah yes. The carefree days of being a kid. Back then we thought life sucked cause we couldn't de what we wanted and had to follow curfew(although I never really did) and listen to our parents. Man, we didn't realize how good we had it back then.

-Not everyone; just maybe 99.999999% of them deserve to be flatheads.

reply

No one has mentioned rocco's modern life it was one of my favorite shows.

reply

I mentioned Rocco's modern Life. It was in another Old school Nick show board though. I loved and still love Rocco's modern life.

Crazy Diamond#35

-Not everyone; just maybe 99.999999% of them deserve to be flatheads.

reply

How about Rocko? or The Angry Beavers. If we're going back to the cartoons they should definately be included. I miss old Nick.

reply

Two of a kind was wicked. I soooo wanted to be one of the olsen twins!

reply

Ok I'm a little late....Nick News with Linda Ellerbee lol!! I also remember stuff like The Big Help where everyone would go out and clean up trash and focus on the environment. I actually used to do that. I'm 22 and I remember coming home everyday after school and watching Hey Dude, Wild and Crazy Kids, and What Would You Do? If there was a Nick channel with all those shows on there I would be all about it. Those shows never get any recognition, it's like they fell off the face of the planet.

reply

I really don't understand how kids born in the 90's can remember these shows - I was born in '87, and I am still pretty young to be remembering the golden age of nick.
For some reason when I was little I didn't like Legends of the Hidden temple - I think it was painful for me to watch b/c the kids were such idiots and I knew I'd win that show in a heartbeat if I was ever on. lol
Clarissa Explains it All - golden
Adventures of Pete and Pete - watched this every Sunday for years
Alex Mac - was never a fan, my younger sister liked it though
Hey Dude - It was like Saved By The Bell, but on a ranch
Salute Your Shorts - very possibly my favorite kids show ever. It just doesn't get any better!
Are You Afraid of the Dark - there was a rumor going around my grade school that some girl had watch all of the episodes, and was now too scared to sleep in her room alone at night . I loved this show

~The only thing I've come to trust is an orgasmic rush of lust~

reply

It started as the golden age was ending butwhat about the show with the really crappy superheroes, where one was just a big naked doll and the other one melted. Kablaam or something like that I just remember the action league now and thought they were funny as hell.

reply

ROFL. Kablaam was an amazingly funny show.. FFS is was Robot chicken before robot chicken.

reply

I was born in 81 and watched most of the shows mentioned on this board. Alex Mack, Shelby Woo, All That, Keenen and Kel and a few other were ones that were on when I stopped watching Nick everyday. I didn't know very much about them, I had kind of grown out of it by then. Not like Clarissa, Slaute you Shorts, Pete and Pete, Hey Dude and some other that I could still recite dialouge from today. The original AYAotD were the best, terrifying, the Outer Limits for kids. It got worse and sort of stupid the longer it lasted.
I did love Doug, Rugrats, Real Monsters and my favorite cartoon to this very day even though I haven't seen it in years is Rocko's Modern Life.

~~The Frightening Reality Of The Fact That We Will All Have To Grow Up And Settle Down One Day ~~

reply

ya i remember alot of these shows i loved them! here are some more 80's early 90's shows but theyre not nick and there for a little bit older kids i think they wree on tgif or something besides from full house which still airs fresh prince, step by step, family matters, saved by the bell, growing pains, roseanne, the cosby show& i know that some of these still air at weird times and there are a ton more like this that im forgetting but i just remember loving these shows too!
