Anybody think this film just edges above Predator 1987?

i personally think Glover was more of a badass than Arnold. "Alright Pussy Face, your move" and "Ok - Whos next?" are way more badass than anything Arnie said in P1.

I agree it's a hard call, because, to me, the first film is an "Arnold movie." The SECOND film is a "Predator movie."

Consistent therewith, we learn a bit more about Predators' technology and culture.

Predator 2 is better as a horror film.

I wouldn't say it's better, it is good in its own way.

Danny Glover gets hate but I like the middle aged disgruntled cop thing. It works with the gritty city setting. The other characters are fun too. A lot of people don't like the humor in it but I think it works and doesn't distract. It's never taken to superhero movie mugging for the camera levels.

It's not overly self aware. It's just a fun movie like the first. The first is done to near perfection so that's hard to beat. The sequel makes an honest effort.

It expands on the Predator as well, shows us more about their world, which is nice because the look and everything is consistent with the first movie.

Issue is the 2nd is a genuinly good film but comes after basically an action masterpiece and so gets very undeserved criticsm due to that.

If the original didn't exist this would be seen as a very good movie.

Second one has a different setting(very interesting) and expands info about the predator without going over the top. I think they are both very good movies, I would rank them as equal with Predators close behind. The rest ... they're just bad. Prey is an abomination.

No No Predator 2 is a very weak film! It was weaker when it was released and does not hold up. Pred1 still holds up.
