Who else loved the Sheriff and his wife? I would totally watch a TV spin-off of those two solving crime.

I loved those two! They had such hilarious rapport.
I HATED what happened to the Sheriff, I agree with the above poster in that I too wish that they'd written that part differently.
Like maybe Annie clocks him with a bat or something, and he is unconscious and/or in the hospital for the rest of the film.
He wakes to learn the news that Paul Sheldon is alive.

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

I love the irony of this comment. It's like Annie herself was posting on imdb.

It’s harsh to kill off Buster but I think the film benefitted from a major sacrificial lamb at that point in the story. They earned it.

That would have been a good idea but killing him really showed Sheldon, and the us the audience, that Annie meant business with her threats. She was a psychopath and would not be reasoned with. She KILLED the local sheriff!...what else is this lady gonna do???

Made for quite the emotional impact and set the stakes high for Sheldon.

Would we still feel satisfaction when Sheldon bashed Annies head in with the typewriter if she hadnt murdered the sheriff in cold blood?

They reminded me of Marge and Norm Gunderson from Fargo.

Yes. They were fantastic and so entertaining to watch. I loved them together.

I was genuinely stunned when he got shot through the chest by Annie. I was actually really upset and couldn't help but think about his wife and what she would inevitability have to go through when his death is reported.

I had to keep reminding myself that they were not real.

How can you not love Frances Sternhagen and Richard Farnsworth? Both terrific actors, perfect for their roles, they had great rapport. Loved them!
