The Sheriff and his wife

Who else loved the Sheriff and his wife? I would totally watch a TV spin-off of those two solving crime.

Those are just facts, and facts are just opinions, and opinions can be wrong.

You mean the couple who repeatedly withhold vital pieces of information from the state investigators, and the sheriff who -- upon discovering Annie's true identity and probability of being involved in Paul's disappearance -- foolishly goes to her house alone and sneaks upstairs with no legal authority? I'd say they got just what they deserved. (Assuming that, following her husband's funeral, the wife was taken straight to prison for impeding a state investigation.)

Had they divulged their found information to the proper investigators in a timely fashion, Paul wouldn't have been hobbled, Annie would be in prison or a mental ward, and the sheriff and his wife would be happily bantering into their golden years.

But yeah, they were cute. ;-)

Definitely a relationship goal..lol They had a great relaxed relationship, so sad to see what happened to him at the end. That was tragic.

Too bad it wasn't in the book. Its one of my favorite elements in the movie

Yes! They were great.

Those two characters made the film layered and enjoyable for me.

They were written for the screenplay and never appeared in the novel, one of the several genius changes made for the adaptation.
