Shocked about how the kids were allowed to bully Kevin

I just watched this movie again after many years and was seriously disturbed by the way all the kids were allowed to bully Kevin. His parents were present while the other kids were saying rude and hateful things to him and they said nothing.

And the uncle called an eight year old boy a jerk??

In the original script, the uncle was the one who hired the burglars.
That why he gets the nasty lines.

I found Meghan to be the worst actually, but she was clearly wprried in Paris. Jeff was somewhat reassuring "She's right Kev" trying to tell him that he needs to change and his other line was after all that chaos.
Linnie was the best. Neither Kevin nor I understood her remark at that age and did not feel insulted, which is why she did it in the first place.
Also the WAY she told him that their mother packs his bag, warned him about Fuller, and lastly that remark, makes a bit difference. She could have been angry and mean about all this but she seemed more concerned.

For me, Kevin's siblings from worst to best, goes in this order:

1) Buzz
2) Jeff
3) Megan
4) Linnie

Uncle Frank has them ALL beat, though.

This is why you don't have 5 kids unless you have a nanny or maid. The mom was overspent, the dad was an imbecile, Buzz was a bully and the sisters seemed tired because they had to pick up the slack to help their mom, plus its a holiday event and the added relatives is more work, so everyone is extra tense. Sure, Kevin was bratty, expected from a kid in a big family, you have to make noise to be heard, and some of it is typical sibling stuff, but he didn't deserve everything he got. Agree that Buzz and the uncle were the true jerks here, but the dad isn't my favourite either.
