Otis abhorred me more than Henry did!
Jeez, what a creepy, sadistic pervert. Henry may have been more cold and introverted, but there was just something about Otis that made my skin crawl. Anyone else feel the same?

shareI was shocked to see on the news that it has been confirmed that Otis was the murderer of John Walsh's little boy. (You know, John Walsh, host of "America's Most Wanted.") He decapitated him. What a horrible person, if you can call him a person.
shareall through the movie I kept thinking"ugh this guy is so ugly!" & he had a *beep* up personality.then when he raped becky,he really made me sick.disgusting! his own sister!

His smile and laugh really creeped me out.
shareReally? You knew these two in real life? That's the only way Otis could have "abhorred" YOU. But either way, did anybody else notice his teeth?? I think that had a lot to do with it too. Strange they found a capable actor in Hollywood with teeth like that.. and they certainly didn't look like prosthetics. He was also creepier because he was possibly a pedophile (grabbing at that teenager he was selling pot to)... let alone incestuous. While Henry was a serial killer, Otis seemed more of a perverted thrill-seeker with NO boundaries whatsoever.
Look at how happy you are, so carefree. It's almost as if you don't know you're Billy Bush!-Triumph
In real life both were much like how "Otis" is depicted in this movie. In fact, I think Ottis Toole claimed more victims than Henry did, as Henry was convicted of killing 11 even though it's more likely he only killed two. They were both grotesque looking monsters with very little education in real life. No doubt however Henry was a monster and would have killed many more if given the opportunity. The fact that the last thing that G.W. did as Governor of Texas was commute Henry's death sentence is kind of saddening. I'm against the death penalty generally speaking but I applaud whenever a dangerous psychopath that not only admits to their killings but brags about them is put to death because they're nothing but a cancer to society.
Also, I put emphasis on dangerous because the word psychopath has a negative connotation that it didn't used to. Psychopaths, while most are pathological liars, don't always turn violent and sometimes even become model citizens.
To the world you may just be somebody, but to somebody you may just be the world.
Definitely in the movie Otis is more disgusting in a uncomfortable way. Namely because he goes after his own sister. In the commentary in this movie they were talking a little about the real Henry and Otis. They kind of indicated that Otis was almost sub human in his interviews they saw. I have seen a bit of an interview Henry did and he mentioned it being disgusting when Otis started eating parts of his victims.
The scary clown doll is hiding under my bed.

Disgusting.
sharewell, bush had to commute Henry's sentence because the murder he was sentenced to death for was impossible for Henry to have committed because he was in another state at the time of the murder. In my opinion he should have been given a new trial for that murder or just had his conviction thrown out.
shareIf Ottis "abhorred" you, it means he hated you. Wrong use of the word. Also, to every poster on here, his name is spelled OTTIS TOOLE. TWO T'S!
shareYes definitely, and I believe that was probably deliberate. What made Henry such a good killer (as with most serial killers), is that they have the ability to appear normal and even charismatic. The trick to being a successful killer is nobody suspecting you. Otis had none of these qualities.
Otis was also a psychopath of sorts but not a killer in the beginning. He exhibited all the traits of psychopathy coupled with a child-like unevolved mind. Becky talks about how her father sexually abused her for years and there is every reason to believe that he either also abused Otis or he encouraged Otis to abuse Becky as well. Either way, Otis did not exactly have a sound male role model in the house and he certainly had no respect for Becky.
Otis had also been in prison and had no doubt been subjected to, or willingly participated in, homosexual activity whilst incarcerated, which would contribute to his confusion about his sexuality and the boundaries of sexual decency.
I don't think Otis would have become a murderer if he hadn't met Henry but he most certainly would have been an 'opportunistic' rapist and general felon. Henry merely exposed Otis to another side of psychopathy, and Otis came to enjoy it and get some sense of power out of it (which is ultimately why psychopaths kill in the first place).
A very disturbing character yes, and more disturbing character than Henry because he is so unpredictable. You never know what he will do next, where as Henry will always be a straight out killer.
