Otis abhorred me more than Henry did!
Jeez, what a creepy, sadistic pervert. Henry may have been more cold and introverted, but there was just something about Otis that made my skin crawl. Anyone else feel the same?

shareYeah absolutely, I actually liked Henry compared to Otis. Which doesn't say much as I usually go for the bad guys anyway, but I disliked Otis.
"I'm sorry we're fresh out of that, all we have is ...UNTIMELY DEATH!" - Stewie Griffin.
Me too - and I'm pretty sure that was the point. Henry was a psychopath, but not without causes. His backstory is all about his childhood and he clearly possessed a negative reaction to both women and sex. When he talks to Becky and realises they both have something in common, he probably feels less inclined to kill her. Although he does in the end. Otis on the other hand - was just a horrible person.

That's another thing that makes the film so brilliant: Henry is the ultimately the protagonist and Otis is the villain.
shareAbsolutely Otis was just disgusting in every sense of the word. He seemed to be the most weak pathetic vice riddden scumbag ever. I never felt anywhere near that much negative emotion towards Henry.
You got the feeling Henry needed to kill and that Otis would just find a cheap thrill in anything. Im so glad Henry killed him.

I totally agree with you here.
Otis on the other hand - was just a horrible person.
"Toole was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. His mother was a religious fanatic"
The very first line included a description for why he was the way he was! His mother was a Christian!
Ha!
I agree with you about everything except for Henry being a psychopath. I believe that he truly was a sociopath. And to mssinmymind2, most movie that are based real events have many parts that are tweaked or completely changed.
why is boobs good
Suffer more?
A pen through the eyeball wasn't enough?

true. henry even defendet her against otis.
shareIm working on a paper in my Criminal Minds class at college, and have chosen Henry Lee Lucus as my subject. I hope this doesnt sound "sick" of me, but I didnt find the film all that gruesome, or at least it wasnt as much as I had expected it to be given others reviews on different sites.
Dont get me wrong, it was gory enough...but I did find that, though the descriptions clearly state that this film was "based" on the life of Henry Lee Lucus, the storyline doesnt seem to be accurate in hardly any of the film.
I noticed in the main review thats on the top page for this movie, the person states that shes happy this was "just a movie"...actually its not...this movie was based on the real criminal acts of these people (Henry, Ottis and possibly even Becky)
Becky in real life was 15 or so, when she was killed, not in a hotel, but out in a field, in the middle of no where "Lucas later related in a statement to police that, after unpacking their bedrolls, he lay down and started drinking heavily. Becky stripped down to her underwear and lay beside him. After heavily drinking the result was a violent argument with both of them yelling and swearing at each other. Finally, Henry told her that he had made the decision to return to Stoneburg the following morning instead of going back to Florida like she had wanted. Her response was to hit him on the side of the head.
"That was it," Henry recalled. "I just stabbed her with my knife. I just picked it up, brought it around, and hit her right in the chest with it. She sort of set there for a little bit and then dropped on over."
Lucas said that, immediately after the attack, he was shocked that he took the life of someone he loved. His shock couldn’t have lasted long, because, according to his statement, "I took her bra and panties off and had sex with her. That’s one of those things I guess that got to be a part of my life – having sexual intercourse with the dead."
Lucas then removed a ring from her hand and cut her body into pieces and stuffed her remains into three pillow cases and left her in the field while he walked around thinking about what to do next. Even though he had killed many times, the murder of Frieda "Becky" Powell was to be the first time that Henry Lee Lucas would feel guilt and remorse for his actions."
Henry and Ottis met in a homeless shelter in Jacksonville, Florida not NYC, and Henry actually lived with their family, which included Ottis's wife, whom Ottis would bring home men from the shelter to have sex with, for him and for her.
Becky was 11 yrs old the first time they met (when Henry lived with them in Florida) and after spending time, over the years, they started a sexual relationship when Becky was only 12 years old - (no reports that I have found so far, state that Becky was married or ever had a kid) and she was Ottis's niece not his sister.
According to most accounts of their friendship, Ottis and Henry were sexually involved at some point
In the film, one is sort of lead to believe that Ottis was somewhat innocent of at least the killings until he met Henry, when in fact Ottis had his own criminal past that included, theft, kidnapping, robbery, sexual assaults, murder, cannibalism and even necrophilia.
Ottis died in September 1996 in prison from cirrhosis of the liver not by the hands of Henry Lee Lucus.
those are just a few of the inaccuracies in the film. Not Im not puting down the film, Im just putting more information out there...for those who are interested.
(( Great read about the life of Henry, Becky and Ottis )) http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial_killers/predators/lucas/confess_1.html
yeh i definitely agree. he was just creepy coz he was completely perverted. he reminded me of a complete stereotypical hillbilly (i have nothing against hillbillys! just the stereotyped ones) with nothing on his mind accept his dinky! lol. he was the real messed up killer. Henry was just mental.
The Warriors
Doin' what? Messy-up your day?
ummm...you are using the word abhor in the wrong context. Abhor means "to hate". So you're saying Otis hated you more than Henry did...

Little squeeze of the knee never did anyone any harm.
Like 80s action movies? ACTION ALLIANCE: http://commandofans85.proboards45.com/index.cgi
i think its because even though he was insane
Henry had some sort of twisted code of honor
Otis just went along for the fun
Maybe the OP is the pot dealer that Otis tried to molest.share
The real Henry Lee Lucas had a friend named Otis Toole, who was a *real* retarded person, he was brutal, had no mercy and killed anyone, had no care who. Otis in this movie is obviously based on the real Otis Toole, who IMO was much more disturbing then Henry Lee Lucas in real life.

There's no possible way that Otis could have "abhorred you" more than Henry did, as Otis didn't know you. To abhor someone is to regard them with extreme repugnance or aversion; detest utterly; loathe; abominate. So you may have been abhorred by Otis, but unless he knew you, there's no way that he abhorred you.
shareMy exact reaction after re-watching this for the first time in years tonight. Henry was methodical, controlled, and street-smart.
Otis on the other hand was a blithering, loudmouth drunk. Not to mention bi-sexual, incestuous, and homicidal.
Who would you have dinner with?
You're equating bisexual with being incestuous and homicidal? The way you've written that looks like you think they're equally disgusting things.
Thats fine if you do, I just wanna clarify.
And what, pray tell, is the difference between being abhorred by someone and having them abhor you...?
If you're going to correct someone, Tammy, at least get your facts straight before you try to belittle and correct them publicly... otherwise it'll just come back to bite you in the butt.
I'm sure we could all figure out what the original poster meant without trying to embarrass them by pointing out the flaw in their usage of a word. For all I know, English may not be their native language - and if that's the case, I'd say they were doing pretty darned well to even attempt to use the word 'abhor'.

You know what, looker7? That is SO true! Even though the real Henry didn't kill him, if he was anything like that moronic, dumbass idiot, I'd have killed him also. It actually started to look as though Henry had class. I realized this during the scene in the car when the (boo hoo) video camera gets busted.

Otis Toole is the *beep* who killed John Walsh's son, the guy from America's Most Wanted.
