Which version of The Godfather 3 is the best for a first time viewer wanting the true Godfather experience?

Just stick with The Godfather Part III. The Coda version while it does trim it a bit does not remove any of the problems The Godfather Part III had, however it does mess with the ending which was hands down the best part.

Yeah it’s a re-edit of The Godfather Part III and it is shorter but as I said it screws with what was hands down the best part of Part III

Plus the Coda version puts a major plot spoiler right in the title.

The CODA cut is galaxies better than the theatrical cut, and it's sort of a mini-film-school in how minor changes and editing choices can make a major difference on the impact of a movie.

The 1991 cut is the one to watch, Coda is terrible - it removes the final, essential shot 🤦🏻‍♂️

The only improvement in Coda is when the dude gets stabbed in the jugular with his own glasses - the blood spray is savage.
