Is there really a baggage flattening roller?

I'm watching This right now on IFC[12/24/16] and find the luggage roller that kills the one henchman in the beginning of the movie totally ridiculous but does such a thing exist?

I don't think it's a flattener. I believe its a sizer. If the luggage is too big it pushes it to the side. Unless of course some cop is pushing your head into it.

Have you ever noticed that when McClane engages in a shootout with two goons (who supposedly have military experience) inside the baggage handling area of Dulles Airport, not a single other person hears the gunshots? And were there not a single airport technician who discovered a corpse stuck in a baggage exit.
