when people sleep they accidently swallow spiders

sound crazy, but on average 6 or 7 spiders will crawl into your mouth while your sleeping in your entire life!!!

This is because a humans mouth is damp aand moist and warm, so the spiders will naturally crawl into your mouth!

i had to always check that i didnt open my mouth whilst im my bed.......LOL

I can't say I believe the crap about spiders crawling into your mouth at night, but I did see a documentary on spiders on the Discovery Channel where some doctor was saying that there is always a spider within 6 feet of you. Kept me up a few nights, and if it pops in my head at bedtime, I still don't sleep well. I can't stand them, and I don't think it was conditioned. My mom and dad were never scared of them. and my mom says the first time I saw one near me I freaked out, even though she tried to make it no big deal. I can handle snakes, frogs, lizards, rats, wasps, bees... all the creepy crawlies that females are supposed to be afraid of, even roaches (as long as they are not in my house... they are nasty to me), but a spider will get me screaming in a second. I can't even get close enough to kill it. And as far as them being scared of us, I don't buy it. We have those spotted ones that jump around here, and those damn things will chase you.

Some mornings it just doesn't pay to wake up and chew through the straps.

The whole spider swallowing is a MYTH! The same goes for the urban legend of babies dying because of snakes entering their mouth and throat to drink milk. No animal or insects would voluntary enter a larger creature's mouth, they KNOW it's a bad idea because they are likely to get killed by doing so!

BUT, to tell you the truth I've had spiders inside my covers or crawling around on my bed, so MAYBE it's possible once in a very RARE while when all the conditions are there, but no way it happens anymore frequently...

People in those 3rd world countries who barbeque spiders and eat them just make me SICK.

It's *beep* for one reason and one reason only: there is no possible way to obtain ANY meaningful data through any scientific inquiry that would lead to this conclusion. It is, however, possible for spiders to end up in a person's mouth while they are sleeping. Attaching a quantitative probability to that, however, is just silly.

This is *beep* Not true

I'd heard that too. On average a person supposedly swallows about 10 spiders and about 80 other insects while they sleep throughout their life.

Really? Fascinating. And how, might I ask, was that rate determined? What tests were conducted? How did the scientists establish control over how many spiders were in the surrounding environment? Do you have any citations that provide clarity to any of these questions?

The truth is that this statistic is an unsubstantiated myth. There's no possible way to calculate the rate at which spiders would end up in a sleeping human's mouth. It's simply not feasible.
