Buck's weird sexual innuendo - to his NIECE??

Great film, but there are a couple of odd innuendo's thrown in.

When he gets annoyed with his stuck-up niece, he says something like-

"Get somethin's juicy in yer."

Innappropriate now maybe, but back then- to your own minor niece?????

reply

He says, "I'll get it nice and juicy for ya" – referring to the cigar, after offering her one. Nothing sexual about that.

reply

Even Freud said "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar".

reply

Right, so why is her face disgusted to the OBVIOUS allusion?

If you say suggestive shit like that to your teen family members, good luck, weirdo.

reply

Ahh, so you're a moron. Noted.

reply

Your mind came up with that, nobody else.

reply

Her face has a disgusted look considering the prospect of smoking a cigar that Buck has already made juicy with drool.

reply

There's so much muck out there and people don't understand this.

reply

Seriously??? He said "I'll get it nice and juicy for ya" meaning if she wanted to try the cigar he had in his mouth he would make sure to get as much of his saliva on it as possible. It was gross and that is why she reacted the way she did.

There was ZERO sexual innuendo in that.

reply

Exactly.

I think the OP needs to follow this person's advice from the "Parenthood" movie thread:

"[–] daughterofolaf 7 years ago
Jesus Christ. Is there some sort of special group where people like you meet up to discuss the "disturbing" and "inappropriate" things you see in 80's movies and help each other work through your issues?

In case there isn't, might I suggest you start one up and take your issues there instead of bringing them to imdb? If you need a place to start I can help:

- There's some broad on the Splash board who feels it is outrageous that the movie is rated PG when we see a partial split-second glimpse of a mermaid's breasts under the ocean in a non-sexual setting.

- There is no shortage of people on the Sixteen Candles board who declare that the movie is racist and offensive.

- Someone on the Monster Squad board feels that the movie should be edited to remove the word "homo" from the dialogue because it is offensive and if I remember correctly she feels kids don't truly talk that way.

- A woman (at least I assume it's a woman) on the Die Hard board wants to show that movie to her kid but refuses to do so unless the bad words are edited out. She is okay with extreme violence, execution, gore and blood but the word F V C K is an issue.

There, you should have a good start at least for your support group. Have fun."

I know this post is a year old, but πŸ‘!

reply

Lol, thank you. And the OP I posted from was 7 years old and that post still works these days. Sad.

reply

Precisely.

reply

does this mean wokefagtards on twitters will cancelled poor john candy?

such nice warm man. you american need more man like this instead of all wokefagtards in your country.

reply

I adore John Candy! I wish he was still alive making movies πŸ’”πŸ˜₯

reply

John Candy was awesome.

reply

No innuendo. The point was that the niece would find the cigar disgusting of and by itself. Cigars were already falling out of favor as a social habit by that time reinforcing the notion that Buck was out of step with the times.
