Urkel clumsiness didn't get stale?

As I'm watching the show, I can't help but wonder --- Did audiences, at the time, not get weary of Urkel's clumsiness? It seemed to happen in almost every episode, where he'd break something, slip & fall, or trip over himself, etc. It was basically the same joke again and again.

I found it repetitive by season 4 when I watched it recently. At the time, in the 1990s, did viewers not get tired of it?

I know I didn't get tired of it, because Jaleel was talented enough to make it work.

Back then viewers and people in general were way less critical.

If its one thing the internet brought, its high criticism of everything and everyone.

Pretty funny character, well written show
